What I did today.

1) dropped in K&N air filter
2) dropped in K&N oil filter
3) changed oil to quaker state high rpm pure synthetic, 3.5q
4) added 1q lucas high rpm performance to that
5) changed plugs to the newer bosh plat. ir fusions
6) picked up performance plug wires at razor racing, forgot the brand, and i threw box away....sry.

After getting this all done in one setting, I cranked her back up and took her down towards north shore, and I can DEFIANTLY tell the difference, she responds better and feels a bit .....peppier. My 2nd gear ownz.

When i'm in automatic, if im all the way down on the gas, it automatically gets near perfect redline shifts. Has anyone else noticed this?

also, does viper have a contract with mazda for these alarm systems, or are they only in the 3?

I really wouldn't use oil addatives unless they're absolutely necessary for the survivability of your engine (ie.. unless you're burning a quart of oil every 200miles and you need some restore to keep it down..) they mess with the addatives present in the base oil (in this case the quaker state) and once they're in your engine it takes a while (if ever) for the stuff to get out of there.

2, the drop in air filter is great, the oil filter, not so great.
the oil filter itself isn't designed for maximum filtration(if that's why you bought it), they're specificly designed not to filter a good portion of the oil for the sake of having higher over-all GPM in terms of oil flow. This is because they're primarly designed for very high revving engines/racing applications where the oil gets changed every 100-500 miles anyway and it's way more important to keep up good oil flow than it is to properly filter it.

now.. will using a K&N every time you change your oil put a premature death to your engine? I doubt it.. but for the sake that there are better products out there that filter more dirt and contaminents I avoid the $11.99 fee and get something else(like a mobile 1, purlator one or napa gold, which all filter more particles and cost up to 50% less).
