List of planned Modifications

Hey all,

I thought I would try to elicit your opinions on the mods I have planned for the P5 this summer. :)

First off, I've decided to stay N/A because I need a P5 that's easy on the mileage, while having a bit more pep. I expect to spend no more than $1,700 on these parts, and a friend of mine will soon be a certified mechanic, so I'll have a good deal of help installing these myself. So here's what I have in mind:

Performance

Injen CAI

Racing Beat Catback

AWR Header

FS-ZE intake & Mazdaspeed exhaust camshafts

AWR Motor mount(s) (not sure about the rear, since it's a b**** to install, by all accounts)

High compression pistons

Sparkco spark plugs

Ground wire kit

Does anyone have any suggestions/opinions ? What sort of HP/torque gains should I expect from this setup ? Thanks! Your input is most valuable. :D

Edit: Oops, after re-reading my post, I saw that it really belongs in performance. Sorry mods! (bowdown)

well, your list has hi comp pistons in there. i doubt you will be working on those with the block in the bay. you should replace all the motor mounts while the engine is out.

The Mazdaspeed exhaust cam has been discontinued, better get it while you can. :D

Ah ok ... I haven't fully studied up on the installation procedure of the pistons, thanks for letting me know. :) Maybe I can convince my friend to let me use the lifts and equipment at his school, heheh.

(doh) Bah! That's annoying ... I wasn't planning on buying the cams until late this summer. Thanks for the heads up. (2thumbs)

I don't believe they are. From what Edwin said they were going to stop making them completly. If you'll notice www.protege5online.com doesn't have them listed anymore (last time I checked.)

oh btw, what about HID kits? you getting one?

Yep ... but probably not until Fall, when the nights start getting longer. :)

looks pretty good...Id reccomend getting a short shifter +bushing aswell

I have a sportshifting auto. (hand) I really wish I bought a manual, but I was rushed into the sale because the 0% apr for 5 years promotion expired that day. The auto was the only P5 in the lot that had the trimmings I wanted. :( Ah well ... (dunno)

Your right... but corksport said this... "We will be developing our own with the same specs however." So i guess we are both right ;)

Dude..Get a Nitrous Kit...You will get more than Double the Horsepower than the mods you are taking about and it's 1/2 THE COST!

If not..I would deff..suggest getting KB SShifter & Bushings..

CHas

i always see ya popping up in the sales forum making inquiries and such. you had to have bought some stuff by now =D

(laugh) I knew you'd chime in with the Nitrous suggestion! :D I totally respect the power gains achieved by a nitrous kit. However, I personally don't like to race. I did with my Integra GSR, found myself wading through a shitstorm as a result and now I know better. :D I'm more interested in tuning the car for maximum efficiency, I suppose. All the same, I appreciate the input. :)

PS: I have an automatic, hehe: no bushings for this boy.
