LinuxRacr's Haltech E6X Log..

Sweet! I will likely be pinging you with questions once I get mine to this point.

Great news Linux, glad to hear things are working out for you on your car.

Just curious have you messed with the hex screw in the IAC valve at all to adjust your idle up down a little bit?

yes he has... I just dont think he needs to anymore. especialy if he can get the Haltech to control the IAC

Pat, I would suggest that you talk to Beau, since he fot it to work with the AEM EMS, he might know what it takes.

The haltech has to control the iac if it's a full standalone...Right now..he needs to stray away from messing with the IAC..i think that's a horrible idea..

If he takes more time to figure out the haltech & its features..i am sure he will be able to fix his idle problems...if anything he need to lower it..b/c he's idling at over 1k!..which is a big waste of feul!

Idling over 1K is not a huge deal... My Lancer I had previously idled stock at 1k... it's all relative.

I never used the IAC on my MP3, but may look into it.. but I'm also thinking of removing it... never had idle issues either... ran around 900-1000ish I think.. maybe has high as 1100.... and was stable all the time. been 9 months though! LOL.

Intake air control solenoid. It opens up a small passage that allows air around the TB butterfly... it is modulated open and closed via a square wave to alter the air flow that reaches the motor to help stabilize idle. The faster the idle the less it opens.. the lower the idle the more it opens... it is modulated consistently to maintain an even idle at whatever the ECU or the controlling computer wants. Helps emissions as well as you can run leaner and be more controlled using it.

figured that's what it was, didn't want to sound more stupid if I was wrong.

of course, I could be blowing smoke up your ass, too. You'll never know! (laugh)

one benefit of the higher idle is faster starts from the line. No longer have to blip the throttle as much. I am curious as to just how much extra fuel is burned. Can't be too much.

you can figure it out if you want.. the injector open time will be roughly the same because the load will be roughly the same... you'd just be X rpm's higher.. so X more firings per minute.. then based on injector size and open time you can changer your CC's/hour into per minute for ease... and then figure out how many more cc's per minute are being used... then back that out to gallons.

Rough calculations that may be WAY off I got roughly 1E-4th gallons more per minute assuming an injector open time of 2.8ms and 270cc/h injectors. (comparing 1200 rpm's versus 800)

I dont know if the haltech does that or what. I know on my stock ECU cold startup RPM is based on ambient temp. The colder it is the higher the RPMs shoot up. On some very cold days I have been at 2k on startup while it warms up.

You can do that to some extents by pushing your timing more advanced.. that will push your idle up.

.0001? (is that negative 4?)
