I thoght it sounded just as bad as the new smashing pumpkins song.

the new linkin park sucks royally. chester had some health issues and couldnt scream much. there are only 2 songs on the whole cd that sound like the hybrid theory linkin park. shinoda isnt hardly on the thing since he was doing the fort minor thing. the whole album is more emo than metal. and the supporting tour is emo. if you honestly love the old linkin park.. the odds of liking this one are pretty slim unless you like a wide variety of music.

Yeah I am a big LP fan...but I do have to admit that this new album is very Emo and Punk/Alternative compared to their previous albums. Lucky I like that kind of music too so I don't mind it and actually enjoy it. Overall good...but not the same.

I havent heard the whole cd yet, but it seems the general feeling is that they changed too much, sound too different.

i wasn't really impressed... it sounds like they lost their edge... hardly any songs with both chester and shinoda together...

I can't believe you guys would down a group/band because they don't sound like their previous albums. Take Van Halen for instance. Some like DLR as the lead singer and not Sammy. Some like Sammy and not DLR. Believe it or not, some like both and can appreciate what the band sounded like with each one at the helm. Do you honestly think that Van Halen would have put out another 5-6 albums had DLR been the lead into the late 80's and 90's? No, because everyone was already screaming that their albums were starting to all sound the same; even DLR said that as part of his reasoning for departing. Same goes for Metallica. Personally, I don't care for their earlier stuff, nor their latest stuff. The three albums in between do me just fine and have led me to appreciate some of their earlier stuff, but not all. Just a little rant. If you don't like it, you don't like it. But to say they suck because they decided not to put out another album that sounds like the first two is shallow.

STP sounded different on their other albums, but it was still fun to listen to. This made me want to slit my wrists. Depressing, slow, boring, no industrial sound to it other than poppy beats. Glad I didn't waste money on it.

excellent point and i agree completely i can take the changes in musicians and their different albums but i just don't really like the new disk all that much.

No, haven't heard it. Listen to sound clips on itunes, and wasn't too impressed. My friend who is a fan boy loved it, but he would probably love anything they do.

As far as the rant. I don't agree with that being shallow. there are a lot of bands that change their sound. some do it for the better and the fans enjoy it, while others change it in a direction that their fans don't like, but in the process pick up new fans. *shrugs* Take Trivium for example, their new album sounds like old school metallica and I thought it swallowed....now that I think about it, I haven't really enjoyed any of my favorite bands new sounds. It seems to happen when they take too long to put out a new album. Life becomes a bigger factor and the band changes and usually it's a lot softer now that they've been living the good life. From real pain comes the best music. Maybe I am shallow, but if I like a band for a certain sound and that's the role they play in my collection, if they change that sound, they lose their purpose in my collection. On a good note, I think cradle of filth had one of the least disappointing albums this year. Oh, so too did Lamb of God....k, i'm done.

This is coming from a HUGE LP fan, so bear with me. They have always been my #1 group for the past 5+ years, maybe more.

I'm terribly dissappointed with the album. I liked the fact that they stuck with THEIR own kind of music, and didn't need to swear to make their music good.

Now, all their songs more or less are slow, chester isn't going at it like he did, mike is almost unnoticeable in it. I hate when bands think they're maturing as they grow softer - LP had a nice, hard sound to them that a lot of people enjoyed, and this new album doesn't live up to their past ones. I'm quite honestly saddened by it, I even cut 1st/2nd hour of school the day it came out to snatch it up.

Cliff notes - New LP CD wasn't worth the 3 hours of detention I got.

The new used Cd is no better. Why are so many bands going soft? I thought the latest MCR was ridiculously good though. I don't mind soft rock, I listen to HIM, but when previous kick ass bands go soft, it's just not good. *shrugs*
