Lighting configurations - non-HID models

Has anyone figured out how to run fog lights independent of headlights? Also, is there a way to keep the signal lights off when headlights are on? Obviously the turn signal FUNCTION should still be active but right now when the headlights are on, so are the yellow signal lights.

JDM 6s/Atenzas are configured this way so it can be done (see picture below). Any input is appreciated, I have very little knowledge with regards to wiring.

You might be able to follow a similar approach that the Mazda 3 guys did with some wiring mods under the dash for independent fogs. If you disable the parking light function in the front, you will have no parking lights at all on the front of the car. The European cars have a separate white parking light from the amber signal indicator that the US cars do not have.

Thanks Suddeueth, sounds like I'll have to pull my mechanically-savvy friend out of his cave for the fog light mod.

As for the parking lights (that's the term I'm looking for!) I found two DIYs for Mazdas via Google that I'll be trying out at my next opportunity. It looks like I'd simply have to cover one side of the bulb with electrical tape.

Edit: Much better.

I hit a deer in my 6 and had to have the driver headlight replaced. The shop had to order it from Canada as he couldn't find one in the US, and now my drivers side signal is off unless signaling, and the passenger side is on all the time. Oh well......

how did you manage to get those tiny orange bulbs to shut off when the headlights are on?

Hey guys. What you'll need to do is remove the turn signal bulb and cover up the INSIDE two wires with electrical tape. Very easy process... took me about a minute to do on each side.
