Yes, I had to ask, as dumb as it seems, but: is the orange ring around the lighter supposed to be lit? I ask because I think it lit back when I first got my car, but not too sure. ever since the alarm got put in I don't think its been lit, if its supposed to...

Never had a light there and it has driven me crazy since i bought the car. shame on you mazda for not putting a light there.
