Hey Ivan, I bought your old BC's from Kevin. We never got a chance to install them on his car. Anything I should know about them before I put them on my car this week? I think the ride height should be good since they came off your car. I remember getting them just right was a pain. haha

Lol we did spend quite a bit of time on those. There's nothing that I know of. I rode around with them for only a bit before I demodded so they should be like new. If you have any issues give me a call.

Right on. Thanks, mang. And I'm glad you decided to stay in the Mazda Family. :)

Here's a pic of my AEM CAI if anyone is interested. I don't really want to start a FS thread for an intake... $150 shipped

Oh, and if anyone needs a MAF sensor or power steering pump, let me know. Or else they will go to eBay.

Dammmmn good job Evan!!! I was planning on stopping by, but I decided that studying for Finals needed to be my #1 priority. I really wish I was more of a slacker

awww how bout u donate it to me and ill pay u wen the summer starts??? lol

^^^ If you were local, no problem. heh-heh

So I got some progress done today, but not much. I bolted up the "tranny saver bracket", got the stubborn axle out (the hammer wasn't big enough apparently) wrapped the other header and found a clever spot to run the Milly harness through the firewall.

I don't mind wrapping headers because I like intricate work like that. It just sucks when your hands itch from the fiberglass. But meh, that's the payoff.

Since I removed my stock A/C unit and all the components I've got a good sized hole in the firewall to run the Milly harness. Then I can mount the Milly ECU in the dash above the glove box in a safe spot. I didn't put it in there for good since I'll be prepping/painting the bay silver. But it looks like it will fit and look OEM-ish.

And I'm going to run the two harnesses like everyone else has. I'll make it as clean as possible but it's much easier with both harnesses in the engine bay.

Tomorrow I'll be putting in the coilovers if Wes is up for it. ;) And painting/coating the headers in the header wrap paint at work.

well it makes it just easier wiring wise. Since you can use the protege harness and ecu to control the speedo, temp gauge, and fuel gauge. Also, it made it a breeze to get a/c working and I will be working on getting cruise control working. You dont NEED to do it with both harnesses and ecus but for the amount of effort and time it isnt really worth while to eliminate the protege harness and ecu.

Evan, it is easier to run both harnesses if you cut the grommet off the mx6 harness, slit the grommet on the protege harness and slide it in from the side of the grommet, makes a clean look and easy to remove the harness if ever needed.

right, it does absolutely nothing with the motor it self. Also the protege harness hooks up to the reverse light switch. All things that can be switched over, but takes more work to accomplish the same goal.

probably 95% of my protege harness is cut back and eliminated once i got it all working how I wanted

That's cool. So the two ECUs share the output from the crank/cam sensors? If so, do you add any buffer circuitry to keep the required voltage levels? Or is that not even necessary?

nope the protege ecu sees nothing from the v6 it just sits there and if you hook it up to a obdII scanner it just reads 0rpm with all readyness monitors as not ready.

the tach signal wire is run from the disty to the Dakota digital tach adapter or similar adapter and then from the adapter to the protege harness for the cluster.

Yeah, but I've still got that bigass hole in the firewall from the A/C unit so the Milly harness will fill that. Two birds, one stone.

ps- thanks for helping us out with everything, mate. I sincerely, greatly appreciate you taking the time to help out more KL swaps.

Yeah, it's semi-useless. Thus why I sold my MP3 ecu for a stocker. Imagine what a waste that would be...

But you're right, Justin. The two ECU/harness solution does seem the best way to go. Unless you can afford a stand alone or MS. But that's an expensive solution...

Im glad I can help. If I were closer to either your or bullshark i would be down for getting dirty. SO sick of working on DSMs around here <_< lol oh well its better than being bored. And I just hope bullshark can get his running here soon.

Using the a/c hole for the milly harness is a great idea for sure I didnt realize at first glance thats what hole the harness was hanging out in.

Well it looks like Josh will pass on the SpooledUp Racing header so if anyone wants it we can make a 3-way swap. Josh needs a stock header/precat for his DD P5. I'm looking for $100 shipped for the header plus your OEM header/precat. Local guys would be ideal. PM me if anyone is interested. I'll probably make a FS thread this week to keep all the spare parts in order. Or add them to Josh's FS thread.
