Cres, fer reelz? (boom07) Haha

Thanks for the pics, mate. If I got one of those I think it would fit no problem.

Yup.

Yea I had no issues with fitment. Check the thread I put up. Something like "harness bar solution" or something like that. Shows exactly which one to get.

Haha! You're tho thilly...

I remember that thread, I actually bugged you about it a while back. I'll find it again. Thanks again, mang.

edit- found it. Yours is 47" but another cat said 46" will work too. Here's the link I'll snatch one from for $110 shipped.

edit again- harness can't be more than 2 years old for NASA? Oh man. Now I really need to think if I want to buy new harnesses every two years. But the OEM 3 point is perfectly fine? I don't get that... More research.

I have the same bar as HK, but with the stock seats, you cant fit comfortably unless you are shorter than I am (6'0"). I had my seat back as far as i could my knees were touching the dash. We extended the ends of my bar and allowed the seat to go back 2 more notches to the spot where I had it before the bar, works great now, easy fix for someone with some scrap flat stock, something to cut with and a welder. Just a heads up.

Thanks for the heads up, Justin. I've got the Evo8 Recaro's in my P5 so I'm not sure how all that would work.

The more I think about it, the more I think I should just wait until next year when I'll be tracking the car full time. Then I'll buy an AutoPower roll cage and proper 5/6-point harnesses and do it right.

If you buy FIA belts they last 5 years. And they are not that much more. don't buy that harness bar. they fold in a accident. Racing by its self is expensive but totally worth it. Here is a new pic to keep you going, but Ill have to load up a newer one. I hacked away my rear bumper and took off all the exhaust. Next will be to switching over to plexi glass. right side.webp

Well that old saying doesn't make any bloody sense...

I'm well aware racing is expensive. But I'm not going to just sit around and play GranTourismo5 because racing my car in real life is expensive. I'm passionate about it and building my car up for it.

Unless you "mean don't track your car unless you're prepared to total it.". Which is why I'm buying a DD next summer. And if that's the case, why did you say "It's why I'm still not out there."? You have 5 cars, just that none of them are track worthy. So I really don't understand what you're trying to say.

I'm 33 years old, I work 40/hrs a week @ $16.50/hr so I'm not rich. But I also have no credit cards, or debt of any kind. My P5 is paid off and I would buy the DD next year straight up. So I have some extra money for tracking my P5 next year. I'm not saying I'm going to do it full time or anything or compete with Team Sahlens...

Anyway, iracemine, thanks again for the pic(s). I love your P5, man. :)

Never mind. Deleted my post.

What it means is that if your life is ****** if the worst case scenario happens, then you shouldn't be doing it. That's all. It's obviously not the case for you because you wouldn't have half the work done to your car.

Forget I said anything.

I guess that's why so many people race Spec Miatas. Buy the car for 2k, put maybe 1k more into it, and there you are with your track car. It gets totaled, you buy another.

Ahhh, I gotcha. I agree with that statement entirely. And I know FWD and a wagon isn't the best platform for a track car (in before more bashing) but I don't care. I like my wagon and am keeping it. Tracking my own car is always something Ive wanted to do. That's all. :)

Wes, if Miata's did it for me I would snatch one up and race that. So I agree with ya there too.

My wife asked me what am I getting for my next car, told her lotus exiege. She said what are you going to do with the protege? I told her track car..... and the lotus will be my daily.

JUat an FYI, there was a P5 racing in the CTCS and it did very well. Remember, it all comes down to seat time, funny how Mazda 6's and Acura's were dominating World Challenge back in the day.....beating BMW's, Audi A4's with AWD.......Hell you can put randy Pobst in anything and he'll win in it...

That's the only part that matters. You've got it right, you do things to make Evan happy, not <strike>the slammed folk</strike> everyone else. (2thumbs)

This has made me laugh 7 times today. high five.

I really want a kit car in a few years when I'm married and settled down with my own garage. That would be epic. Or just disassemble the P5 and shine everything up and re-assemble it. It's like Legos. Playing with them wasn't as much fun as building them. I get more excited about installing new parts than driving.

Oh man. KL31 cams are calling my name... They go for pretty cheap on PT. I'm looking at a set for $140. Must... resist... Must save money for DD... arg!

Unless he is wanting to rev the car beyond the stock rev range SLAs are more work than they are worth, IMHO. Some Colt 210's/218 would be fine..just would recommend Interprep springs to go with them.
