Peaches, I'm just teasing, buddy. I haven't asked what color she's repainting them. They're 16's I'm pretty sure so I doubt I'll hang on to them. I already have enough wheels.

Thanks, Cheese! I'm super exited to get these things all lined up. And I'm keeping it black. Black on black with black everything. And some more black. None more black.

If you are going to gut the black car and make a race car out of it you WILL bake inside of the car, my RX-7 doesn't have a headliner in it and my car isn't that dark of a shade of blue and it gets very hot sitting on grid. If you want to keep it black then get the gold foil that Speedsource used on there RX8 #70 last year to reflect the heat off of the car.

Wow, good point, Marc. I never thought about that... I'll probably keep most of the interior in there (but the back seats) and with new buckets I should clear my helmet to the roof.

Yup. No point in putting $10k into a P5 that is infected with rust. And I'm ditching the FS-DE and boosting a new (used) ZE.

possible super early dibs on the block(FS-DE)? could be good for a build and I'm no rush

You should keep the wheels pink

my name is levi tolbert and i support ^ that message... hahaha

tell her to keep em pink!! id even consider taking them off your hands if they were pink, i have 16" snows and pink wheels would be awesome for a winter set hahaha

evan, you're going to need some nice big brakes too, especially if you're going to have that much power! (though the p5 is not as fat as the ms3, but still, i'm sure it'd help!)

and i think you should have a nice yellow batman graphics all over the new black p5! hahaha :p

I know I keep bombing your thread for suggestions - but I haven't found anything from a search of the web for my particular issue, and it's probably a dumb question, but I figured if anyone was to answer it - it'd be those that have done the KL-p5 swap already:

I'm using the ebay special headers and y-pipe (2.5") for my KL. The collector that joins it to the exhaust going back doesn't fit quite right, so it's got some play.

When I romp the gas, it should move the flexpipe between the 2, but instead (no matter how much I tighten it) - it slips that collector collar and BAM! ...instant exhaust leak that spews plennnnnnty of exhaust gases into the cabin. How'd you "solid" that up to make it the best fit possible?

I'd be willing to drive down and back up (following the new car) in a weekend, I have a friend down there.

loctite on the bolts or weld the peices?

Glad you got something worked out with the new chassis!

A boosted KL is a lot of fun, I have driven a few of them over the years...and doing it in a P5 will be cool and different!...as opposed to ebay turbo kitting a Probe, which is almost the norm now..

You got it, Nate.

Also remember it's hard to track down any sort of leak in a black engine bay.

Honestly, with the semi-gloss engine bay on my P5 it wasn't that hard to spot leaks. I don't think I'll go out of my way to paint the engine bay a different color than black just so I can spot leaks. I'm still not sure of a color theme for the black one. Maybe black with hints of blue. Or green. Maybe the engine bay bright green? Haha.

Well I've already got Brembo blanks, Hawk HPS (and a new front pair of HP+ on the shelf) and Stoptech brake lines so I don't think a brake upgrade is necessary. I'll upgrade to the Speed3 brakes when the time comes.

No problem, you can always ask questions and I'll help as much as I can. Not to sound like a d-bag but your first problem is probably the eBay headers. I've heard on PT that they usually don't line up very well. I have the OBX headers and they lined up pretty well. Then I simply cut off the collar that is supposed to connect to the midpipe and Josh welded it in for me. Then I used a heavy duty exhaust clamp to seal the top he couldn't reach with the welder. After i removed the motor I noticed the seals from the headers were leaking a bit so I would put some high temp silicone between the gaskets for insurance. I've used it before on headers and exhaust flanges and it's worked great.
Here's a pic. Excuse Josh's silliness. haha;

-edit- he also cut off the exhaust hangers, bent them and welded them into a better location. And the discolored middle pipe is basically and extension to reach my CorkSport cat back. I picked that up from Autozone.
