okay i really dont want to buy a new guitar, i am happy with most of my bad ibanez :p

what i am not happy with is the wiring, i need to redo all of it, new pickup selector switch , and i need to add two more knobs and output jack for the bass pickup. also, i need a way better output jack, it sucks, always gets loose from the nut, just bad connection. can anyone recommend some quality (but not costing a fortune) parts to use?

also, i want better tuning keys, mine are so s***, flop out of place, just garbage. when i use 9 gauge strings, they can handle just fine, but i am using 11 lately and i cannot stay in tune.

i play guitar to play guitar and i do not get off on hearing large amounts of guitar tech and theory. :p

edit: oh and i forgot, i want to switch my neck from maple to rosewood. i am looking for an ibanez neck with the old neck screw positions, not the newer all access stuff.

thanks.

It may not be an actual Ibanez neck, but you can get one from Warmoth. They have tons of parts, as well. I'm actually going to be redoing my Ibanez "V" sometime soon, I hope. Prolly use these guys for some stuff. May even try a barritone conversion on my Strat.

Yeah, they've got a ton of sh*t there. And the Custom Gallery is pretty kick-ass too. Worth a look when you get a minute. People do some pretty wacky stuff with their axes.

Ooh, did you ever go to Music Man on SW highway and about 98th. Its been a while since I've been there, but I know Gus who has (had) the shop is (was) really big into Ibanez. Had all kinds of stuff. I actually had bought a nice '76 reissue Thunderbird bass from him; really great to deal with, really knows his stuff.

no i havent, the only thing locally ive been to is rossi music on 95th, but ill keep that in mind. thanks.

pretty thick strings. good way 2 warp the neck. of course i figure u use the guitar all the time so not a biggie. just make sure if it sits u cut some slack. i usually use 8 or 9. i'm not sure if this is still around but u can get some deals w/ musicians friend. i can't recall the website. prob musiciansfriend.com or something. it's a new year so i'd think that a lot of businesses r trying 2 get the old stock out.

just go out and buy a real guitar like a jackson or something!! lol
Anyway it might be cheaper to just do that. Ebay has lots of fairly decent guitars and though I haven't gotten any my best freind has gotten several. They might have the part your looking for as well. What kind of ibanez do you have btw and a pic?

Doesnt someone make a clamp with set screws that goes around the neck up at the headstock so you dont use those tuning keys? Then there are knobs down by the bridge that you use instead.

Yeah, Rossi always struck me as more of school band type of music store. I never really thought they carried first rate gear.

I'm surprised you never hooked up with PorkchopTom at Guitar Center. If he's still working there.

BeNegative - thicker strings warp the neck, what?

xelderex - way out of my budget....

jlanger - i kinda decided i want to build it myself. its an rg170.

rktktpaul - yeah they only have wierd s***...ive only gone there a couple of times for strings. they guys behind the counter usually scare/irritate me.

txrxs - the font is too plain.

*threadjack* LOL, can't get over that sig txrxs. I feel so special having contributed to it.

i know what u r talking about but it's a byatch 2 have. if the gutiar goes out of tune, and it will especially when u bend, u're gonna have 2 loosen that nut then re-tune then tighten the nut which is a hex key. i thought it was the greatest thing until i had to retune every time i picked up the guitar. (bending is a standard when playing guitar)

and yes if u leave the strings on the guitar it causes tension in turn eventually warping the neck. u'll have 2 replace the neck eventually. thicker the string, the stronger the tension. like i said, u don't have 2 worry if u have daily use, but if you're gonna have the guitar sit, give the strings slack so your neck does not warp. u don't wanna have 2 replace things that u can prevent.

charvel model #6 (left handed) is a masterpiece. even right handed i'm sure it plays like a dream.

bump.

i did some work on the ole gee-tar.

replaced the neck pickup with a bass pickup (fleamarket quality pickup, i'm gonna eventually get a better one.) and wired up to second output jack.

removed middle single pickup because...**** singles.

replaced bridge pickup with DiMarzio Super Distortion. love it. its so 'crisp'. very responsive.

i just got my electro-harmonix Octave Multiplexer in. wayyy cool pedal. right now my setup is like this, but will most likely change after i play with it more

Bass Pickup ---> Octave Multiplexer ---> Boss Bass Equalizer ---> sh*tbox Bass Amp

Super Distortion ---> Boss GT3 multieffects pedal ---> Crate sh*tbox Amp

Right now though, i have my pickups wired straight to the outputs, does anyone have any suggestions on what to use for volume/tone knobs...like, any cool combos or stuff? if anything, i will just wire it up stock-like

i just need to build a A/B footswitch now to control guitar/bass/both.

/holds monocle up
If your bankroll permits it I highly recommend a original '69 les paul deluxe its sound is quite exquisite if i do say so myself.
