Let's see some Mazda3 5-doors

Hey, I have a question about your hitch. Is it a class one hitch? and what company makes the hitch?

I wondering this because I want to put on a hitch so I can have a bike rack on the hitch instead of on the roof. but the bike rack says only for class 2 or 3 hitches but i can only find class 1 hitches for my mazda 3.

Any help would be amazing.

Thanks.

Class one.. yes. (there are no others for our cars).
Mine is made by Hidden Hitch.

What bike rack do you have that needs a class 2 hitch? Lets see some pics of this bike rack you have that needs a class 2 or better!

Something like this?

yea, i could tell they where eyebrows, just saying it made the lights look like sti lights.. im not really a huge fan of it either but if he likes it more power to him.

Glad you like it,but i'm planning to change something to make it have a more soft look. :D

One question, did anyone put spacers on their Mazda 3 ? i'm thinking to put the 16 mm ones on the rear wheels, just wanted to know if the wheels don't protrude over the car's profile. :)

The structure of the Mazda is not designed to hold a lot of weight. I also had considered a wheelchair carrier and found that it was too heavy for the structure of the chassis. The tail end and front end is designed to collapse in a collision leaving the center section somewhat intact, but even then, the entire structure of the car does not have the strength to hold a lot of weight.

thats unfortunate for bikers

If the bike carrier is designed for a class 1 hitch, it would be possible, BUT you have to limit the total weight to 200 pounds. Mazda recommends absolutely no towing with the car with its design, which I can clearly see from the back end of mine. All you are bolting the hitch to is stamped sheet metal, not a square tube section. If you have a center structure support brace, as well as a cross brace for the back end, maybe you could do it. I know there are frame braces for the Mazda 3, but don't know the price of them.

well if it was just me traveling with a bike i may consider folding down my rear seats and putting some plastic down and put the bike in there

Sounds about right, this is why I ONLY tow trailers + loads with the correct tongue weight.

Essentially, if I can't lift the tongue with one hand, then I don't tow it.

Exactly, and put a large ATX cooler on the car if it has that. What you have looks appropriate.

Most carriers weigh at least 75-100 pounds by themselves, and that is 1/2 of the weight of the standard class 1 hitch.

I road with 22mm spacers and i liked em alot but i took em off cuz i was too lazy to crank down the camber arms in the rear so the fenders wouldnt rub. im actually selling them i need money for xmas debt

Courage,
I think that is painted or powdercoated.

OT, see you are in my area, if you want, PM me and we can discuss possibly taking your stock emblem and painting/powdercoating it.
