i am a small car enthusiast and have been wanting to drop a rotary engine into something for a while now but have always been held back by the fact that some of the best suited engines and also the dirtiest. i am talking about machines produced in the 70's and 80's. you see modified cars running these things and there is always a persistent cloud of smoke trailing behind. i have heard that new engines released into the US market are now much cleaner burning than the engines of yesterday. but they also seem to have grown larger which can be a disadvantage to some applications. is there something out there in the 150+hp category that is fairly clean burning yet fits into a vintage beetle, a spitfire, or a sunbeam?
