Left side rear view mirror stolen

Ok, so im posting this to see if anyone has had to replace just the mirror portion with the BSM system. Mine was stolen, so i bought the mirror from the dealer, $80 and when the service techician and service dept guy were looking at it, said that i would need to buy the WHOLE HOUSING, around $1k, since i no longer had the connector to the 2 wires that are hanging down from my mirror. I chose not to take their advise and will try to find someone or myself to do it. Its just a simple 2 pin wire connector, not worth buying the whole damn thing. So my question is, has anyone had to have this done that is familiar with the wire connections to the pins? or if you had it done outside the dealer, what do you recommend. really sucks having a new car and the damn thing is missing its mirror. dont even have my plates yet, DAMN.

Man....I am really sorry that some people suck! I had to replace my passenger mirror one week after buying my CX5. I did go to a buddy of mines bodyshop and he ordered it for me. It was just a standard non-BSM and was 23 bucks. I would call around to body shops and have them give you a price so you can compare. Good luck, rtejocx5.

thanks, yeah, sometimes people do suck. i figured a body shop would be my next list of places to call. i still cant figure my my mirror, neighbor has a honda, and folks love parts from those. oh well. alarm time, ha haa

Why not file a claim with insurance and get it replaced?

Insurance +1. Theft is theft. It shouldn't cost u anything. Premiums don't go up for theft and your dedutable should not apply. (I think). Every province and state are different though. But its worth a call. Even if u hit something. U could say u were shopping and came out and found it like that. (Hit and run). Same rule applies. Or vandalism. Just don't say u drove into the side of the garage. Lol.

Let me add that the first accessary I purchase was touch up paint. Because I did touch the side of my garage. (boom05)
