LED's

wtf,, 2nd time now the LED for the dome lighting (middle/back of car) has gone out on me. first one only in there a couple weeks and it stopped working, this new one last about six weeks. ordered them for superbrightled's, and none of my other LED's have had an issue. almost seems like this specific location is getting too much power and is shorting it out... or something,,, who knows.

just wanted to vent. (stfu)

Seems like these types of LEDs are hit or miss. I'm rocking a set now (dabears2k) but one of the map lights flickers regularly and they all have different shades of color it seems. Ordered a new and complete set from superbrightleds - so we'lll see how well those match and last.

so weird...I have had mine in for well over a year and have yet to have a single issue. I forgot where I got mine from.

I am assuming that you have read through the LED how to thread here right?

They are expensive...but well worth the price! haven't had no issues with any products bought from them (and I have quite a bunch of them)

I would avoid superbright, poor packing/spotty Q.

VLEDS would be a better choice

interesting,,, maybe I will try them next time, although I found there site a little more confusing because a search for bulb size 3022 did not turn up anything. I guess they use a slightly different description than superbrite.

so anyhow I found an extra bulb that I had ordered, stuck it in the dome light, and voila it is working. however, I noticed last night that the bulb actually emits a very faint glow even when the switch is turned to "Door".

Do you think that is what is draining the bulb... ?? It seems like a charge is running through it anytime the car is turned on, even if the switch is not necessarily in the On position.

thx

My dome light over the passenger seats in the rear used to work every now and then. Now it doesn't work at all. I also purchased from SuperBright.

When it worked intermittently, the car would have to be on for a half hour or so before I had an ability to turn it on. Almost like it had to charge the light or something...it was weird.

Q: How come when I turn off the car, there is still a Dim light coming from the LED?

A: LEDs takes less power to light up, even though the car is off, there is still left over current in the wires, so you will see a dim light, it will go off within a couple of minutes usually. You dont normally see this on incandescaent bulbs because it takes more power for them to light up.
