LED Underbody

Ive had the idea od LED underbody lights for some time now but I guess someone beat me to it as it is already on the market. The theory should make it a better choice but I would like some opinions if anyone has had any expirience or heard anything about them.

In theory they should:
-last forever (they wont burn out)
-be more flexible (individual LED's in plastic instead of one long glass tube)
-more lightweight
-more customizable (programmable patterns, some can even change colors)
-draw less power than neons
-be brighter than neons
-generate way less heat

It looks like a good idea. Ive seen them listed as more money than regular neons when they seem like they should be cheaper to produce.

They sound badass, I would be interested in a set but I havent seen them. I wonder how much they cost?

Got any pics of the lip on your yellow p5? looks badass in that picture under your name.. Im thinking of doing that and the mintblue rear spoiler that looks almost like the stock one.. and the JDM lights. Maybe the mintblue sideskirts and rear bumper.. ahhh JDM greatness...that looks good though man...

Yeah man, check out our pics that we took at the mazda meet we had last month in Charlotte, NC. They are on this forum and protegeclub forum. here are the links.

I was the only yellow one there.
There are a couple night shots. I have turquiose neon so you can see them in the night shots.

I'm getting bored with the neon. LEDS sound like more fun. hehe

Just to make a correction to this above statement .. Neons DO NOT give off a single degree of heat .. any real neons are made from electricity passing through a tubular structure compressed with a gas which alluminates when electicity passes through it . so the statement above about the leds producing way less heat then neons is a little off .. i mean no harmor to be insulting in saying this btu i just wanted to make this known

Thanks for the info.. I know they dont put off as much heat as an incandescent bulb but they do give off a slight warmness. I belive LED's dont give off any heat whatsoever. Your right in your statement though, and thanks.

i've had them on my ride for7 mos now. love them, super cool. they have .5 amp draw so you can leave them on all night with your allarm
