2017~2025 LED tail lights are too damn bright.

I followed a 2017 CX-5 to the store last night, stopping at a few red lights, and I couldn't help but notice that the tail lights/brake lights were way too bright.
I couldn't wait to pass that 2017 and stop having those blinding red dots in front of me.

Dear Mazda, (and especially Toyota and many other car-makers)
I understand that LED's are cheap and that they look nice when they are bright, but there is no need to shine focused red lights directly into the eyes of the poor driver who was unlucky enough to be stopped behind you.

I regret not getting the GT because my touring doesn't have these. :(

I think you meant to say that you're happy with your touring because your brake lights not needlessly annoying the drivers behind you?

Nah. I like how they look. Reminds me of Mass Effect.

Maybe they encourage a safe driving distance.

They do look really good.

As far as safe driving distance.. the only reasonable thing to do if someone has blinding tail light is to get in front of them :)

Wasn't there recently a thread complaining how the 2017 LED tail lights weren't bright enough? Now there's one complaint they're too bright? Can't please everyone I guess haha

PS I like the GT tail lights a lot :D

Are LED tail lights on 2017 brighter than LED tail lights on 2016(.5)?

I thought the LED tail lights on 2016(.5) are fine. Brake lights are fine too. But I really don't like only the tiny section of red LED accent strips is used as the brake lights on 2017's.

I've noticed how tiny the backup lights are on the '17. They are totally up to the job, being rather high-powered LEDs and they do a great job of lighting the area behind you when backing up.

I've also noted how small the actual brake lights are. The 'signature' LED tail light doesn't get brighter when applying the brakes. The brake light is the small inset area shown at the arrows. My signature rear LEDs are on. This kinda bothers me as I like brake lights which are VERY obvious and attention getting.

Sort of off topic but does anyone know if the 2017 GT tail lights are compatible with the Touring?

I'd think so as they're compatible for gen 1. But these 2017 LED tail lights will cost you at this time. :)
