I am wondering where to tap into for power for these ? I am not sure where to splice in. Do I want them on only when the lights are on, or when the map lights come on ?

If you want to tie into the circuit that the interior lights use, then here you go:

harness J-05, pin U
this is GROUND, but is the switched wire

Pin S is a constant +12

Have fun, I fought with this for along time before I got it right,

FYI leadfoot. If you use the pins he mentioned above then the lights will come on ONLY in these conditions:

-when you unlock the car with the remote
-when you open a door
-when you turn OFF the ignition.

The lights will turn off when:
-you lock the car with the remote
-you turn the ignition to ON (or start the car)
-when the car is off and the door has bee closed for ~30 seconds without the car being locked.

They won't turn on when you flip the map lights or dome light on via the switch on the housings.

i tapped into the same power source for my boost guage. its in a harness on the drivers side kickpanel area.. If you have a voltage tester you can find something to run it off of. Then run a switch to turn them on when you like. I like to keep mine on when im driving at night. It brightens up the dark cabin some. I have 2 -9" led bars on the drivers side floor area and the same on the passengers side floor area.

i simply ran a new power wire and switch for LEDs. This way I have full control on when they are on. Off of the one power wire I hve 3 switches. 1 for footwell lights (front seat and back seat), 1 for Angel Eyes and 1 for the underhood lighting for working on the car in the dark or checking it out at meets. I have never been a fan of tapping just in case I need to put back to stock or there is a problem.
