Like the title says, i'm in the market for projection LCD or DLP HDTV. I've done a bit of research but just wanted to get people opinions. I'm going to be using it for gaming as much as watching TV/DVD's. I heard that LCD doesn't refresh as fast as DLP so thats why i'm leaning more towards DLP. Anyone with any info chime in. Thanks.

my mom's 45" Sharp Aquos LCD is the cleanest, sharpest HDTV picture I've ever seen

LCD - no burn-in, great picture, etc.

DLP blows, also 1 in 10(or something) people can freggin see the color wheel spining in the DLP set, so if you happened to get one you might not even like it.

We got a Hitachi 50" LCD...had 3 problems with it in the little over a year we owned it, but the warranty/extended plan whatever has it where 3 problems within the period = new TV set. So we got a new one, and luckily we were able to talk Circut City into giving us the newest model with black surround, it's a higher up model, and we also argued with them over the stand because the new model doesn't fit the old stand...good deal!

720 progressive (DLP) or 480i/p (LCD)

easy choice.

huh? how do you figure?

my mom's LCD does HDTV no problem. infact the new LCD tv's are capable of doing even 1080p were it available

I love my 42'' Hitachi LCD.....HD is awesome!
I might be getting rid of it though for a projector or plasma..I kinda need more room in the Living room...Your close..are you interested. Its less than a year old.
I play xbox on it almost constantly and its just the s*** period in HD!

I just bought a 50" hitachi LCD rear projection too and it is amazing. I love the black surround, makes the picture appear much better. LCD is superior to DLP as they have replacable lamps to keep the picture looking fresh and DLP are known to have a rainbow effect, where a rainbow of colors can be seen at all times in the image.

Once 1080p sources are available (Playstation3 being the first) Hitachi will offer an upgrade on my set that will allow it to play 1080p, AKA real HD tv.

I was looking at Sony's initially, but the Hitachi's are money.

Yeah, the black surround owns, especially when you're watching a movie and turn all the lights out...all you see is the picture...makes you forget where you are and get into the movie.

On a regular feed? Methinks not. DLP is 720p no matter what you throw at it, just as long as it's digital and has component. LCD's are great, but unless you have a HD feed, it's not really that much different than any other projector or digital television. It really depends on if you have HD in your area.

Do you guys think it is worth it to spend the extra bucks to go with 1080p DLP vs. 720p?

I have the 50" Sony Wega lcd. Kicks Ass. Can't go wrong with either or.

exactly when will we see 1080p video feeds available? buying something that won't be available for another couple years is a waste of money IMO.
