Launching RPM

MAN THIS SUCKS!!! I raced my friend out in the middle of no where. AND I LOST BY LIKE 1.5 car lenghts!!! SHeeze the Damn MP3 wouldnt launch I tried to like drop the clutch at different RPMs but no matter what it didnt work! I tried 2.5 3.0 3.5 2.0!!!! And ALL I GOT WAS MASSIVE WHEEL HOP!!! AHHH I could have hella taken him if I could have launched. If I got those motor mounts would that get rid of that so that my wheel's would turn intstead of makin my tranny drop out sheeze! I'm so damn mad at the MP3 I could sell it right now for a EK hatch!!!! MAN!!! ARGH!!!! Thanks I need help... I was gonna get the autoexe lip and grill. But know I'm thinkin of motormounts and a fly wheel. damn... ah

yeah the MP3s dont respond well to clutch drops. i find that by launching about 4k and feathering the clutch and gas, you get better results. wears out the clutch more though.

i drop the hammer at 3k butclose to the end of fully releasing the clutch give it just a little pressure t keep it from hopping... yes i too have lost to a civic because of the wheel hop. i never had a problem with hop in my civic but you just have to change your driving style a little for a much better car

woah there horsey, you arent going to be winning much...guaranteed, unless someone proves me wrong...with REAL proof of course...why race a car that isnt fast in a straightaway? stick to autox, do the damage there....whats the 1/4mile time for the mp3? ~16.8?...thats what an 02 civic lx SEDAN runs...more or less...my AUTOMATIC 328is with ~120kmiles STOCK beats an mp3...but i also have a bigger engine, probably weigh more...but then again i dont race, or are a "racer" and im on "crack"

btw, what kind of car did your friend have PhyschoMP3? just keep in mind we cant win them all

I beat my brothers RS then my other friend had an LS and was loosing until third gear and he passed me by like 1/2 a car length and today I found out his tranny is f***ed I dont know what he did because he shouldnt have beaten me. The other cars I knew I would loose to... GSX, WRX, VR6 GTI, 240sx. The 240sx I got him once cuz' his tranny's 2nd gear catches bad. The GSX is stock just with a intake and exhaust and he beat a Z28 Camero by like 2 car lengths!!! IT WAS CRAZY!!!

took out a 2000 white Civic EX: he had AEM CAI, DC-sport headers, G-Spec exhaust, 3"springs lowered with 14's.

All i have on My MP3 is just a (Injen CAI). Also i beat him by 1 car lengh till the end of 3rd but he just gave up. I had a good launch on him to, I launched right at 2700rpms and dropped the clutch with alittle bit of wheel hop. Our MP3's also run 16.3-16.5 stock.

Sorry to intrude on your mp3 discussion...but i have a mp5 and i don't know why people say our cars are slow...maybe a little under power but it's not that bad...when you think about the looks of the car vs. accelleration vs. handling....I checked out many cars before i purchased my mp5....

Our cars have one of the best looks to it coming out the factory!!

I constantly get looks from girls and guys....people come up to my car all the time and say...nice car...what you got done...

i doubt many Cibics get that !!!

I race my car allot...and for the most part i don't use N20 unless the guy i am going against has an obvious gain over me...

And you really cannot compare our car to WRX's b/c they are turbo'd already...i constatly race against cibics and accords....and take them...

About launching...your problem w/ wheel hop can be easily solved by purchasing new FRONT MOTOR MOUNTS...

If you cannot afford motor mounts...practice launching...your best bet if you are looking to dump the clutch is to drop at 19000....

Or you can just feather the clutch...which is what i do...and powershift right through the gears....

Of Course you won't win them all...Just think of it this way...the more money you have the fast you go....and if you have lots of money than the protege was not a good choice..the miata would be a better choice...those Things easily beat out stangs and cibic...with a turbo..

Sorry for the long rant..but i just hate to see how people bad mouth the protege!!

It all goes back to that Saying "YOU TEST DROVE THE CAR??? DIDN'T YOU?"

this is probably a dumb question, but can someone explain wheelhop to me? is it just when your tires spin?

WHeel hop is when the tires periodicly slip and grip and the car bounces like a bastard.

Unfortunitly are cars do it alot becuase of a poorly designed power delevery system.

It's only bad if you let the rpms go to high...i power shift i run into the redline...but i don't redline the gear than powershift!!

and i think it helps our my time...but i haven't gone to the 1/4 to test it out yet!!
