Last resort with my MS3

I have enjoyed this car since I bought it in '08 but the smoking has ruined this car for me.

Engine mods are COBB AP, CP-E SRI, PG V.3 exhaust manifold, CP-E catted DP, Magnaflow catback, step colder Denso's, PTP pill, and 5w40 synthetic.

At this point I would rather sell it then put any more time into it...any ideas to?

I have 48k miles on it now and I sold most of the stock parts so I can't really go back to stock to take it to the dealer.

A catch can seems to be a PITA to install and might not even help.

Anyways, just ranting...but if anyone has any helpful advice, I'm all ears (or eyes in this case).

Thanks

If you had the stock downpipe and exhaust manifold to reinstall, I would say do that, then take it back to the dealer. You still have 2K on the powertrain warranty. Oh, return the tune back to Factory settings.

I would unmarry the AP, put the stock air box on it and leave the DP, Manifold, Exhaust on and take your chances with a dealer. Research on one that's close to you and it's mod-friendly. Explain that i didn't smoke with the stock DP on but now it dows with the high-flow cat.

Your problem is the turbo and i heard people with a DP on that had it replaced under warranty so with only 10k miles left on the warranty (not 2k like the post above) i would say go for it.

He said he no longer has most of the stock parts, BUT, I know if you find a Mod friendly Dealer, they shouldnt give you much greif for what you have. The big killer for the 2.3l DISI Motor Warranty is an aftermarket By Pass Valve or Blow Off Valve. If this is stock, you may be ok. I know we have replaced a turbo under warranty for a customer with a DP on it before. If you really want to be safe, try putting all your stock parts that you have, back on the car (Powertrain Wise) and try that. You will find alot of dealers are understanding and want your business. Warranty doesnt pay as much as Customer Pay Hours wise, but its still a buck to us. Call some friends and see if they have any recommendations, etc.

Dude....use ATR to set your RPM to 900 on both tables...that 'hid" the problem for me when nothing else would ....but damnit it worked!

88323GT thanks for the advice. I am in VA and have yet to find a mod friendly dealer but I'll keep checking.

I've got the stock BPV, btw.

I think I'm going to suck it up and try a catch can and see what happens too.

Very frustrating...I am test driving used Z06's already

IMO, don't buy anything else until you go to the dealer. From previous cases, a catch can will NOT solve the issue. The problem is in the PCV system so we kinda need a revised one so it works properly.

Right now, for you, it's too late and you need a new turbo if you want to stop the smoking. Try and get a stock bpv and a stock airbox and leave everything else mod-wise in the car and go to the dealer.
