Hey everybody! I know I'm new to the forum and I look forward to meeting everybody through some g2gs.

Anyway, to the point...

I just wanted to check the interest level of my fellow members for a possible large scale Mazda meet at Atlanta Motor Speedway (not necessarily make specific). As you know, they don't just have the oval track, they have a 1/4 mile legends track (which I am NOT talking about) and two road tracks... a 1 mile and a 2.5 mile.

I have been in touch with Dan Rexrode at AMS talking numbers and figuring out the larger details of the facility. I was actually surprised at the prices, they were relatively reasonable for the day.

Any input or would be much appreciated and if this looks like it will be of interest I will definitely appreciate any help with facilitating this.

As for the ideas go now, we rent the larger road course for a couple of hours, maybe have a raffle or two, i'm going to see if i cant collect a few sponsors who might want to show if we can get a good crowd, have a large lunch catered by someone (BBQ maybe?), and possibly other off-track auto related activities for those who wont be tracking their cars or are just there for support...

let me know what you think...

what would everybody be willing to pay for a full day of open track? for comparison purposes only, Road Atlanta is like $250+ for open track day. My target is AT LEAST 70% LESS than that for the day

definitely interested just would have to find out the rules for the road track since i know several of us own convertible cars

If I had a road race worthy car, I'd be set...
Out of 3 protege's, only one runs. (screwy)

I sent Dan an e-mail earlier addressing the rules and regs of the track so hopefully I'll have a PDF to link up for you guys and gals tomorrow.

I met a guy today at college that has a Mazda3 and he is from Roswell. I told him about the forum and about the meets, so hopefully he'll find us here. :D

the price is being worked on, and the date is still a good ways from being set. Like Metallic36 said, sponsors are key and I'm working on that. But before i delve too deep in my personal time with sponsors and Dan at AMS, i just want to feel out interest levels to see if its worth it.

What about Zoom-Fest? Is that kinda what you're thinking here but on a lesser level? Dunno.. seems like it would take a lot of planning and work vs. all of us just meeting up at Zoom-Fest.

yeah, i saw that. that's knida what i was thinking and i'll probably be going. I just wonder how much track time we can get...
