labour for changing clutch?

03 MSP OJ
how long does it take to swap out msp clutch and resurface OE flywheel ?

the shop i usually go charge 65-70/h labour, not sure if they are familiar with msp or not. i might wanna get LSD out for welding too.

how much does it usually cost?

I can't speak to resurfacing the flywheel, but my brother and I replaced a clutch in my MSP in an apartment parking lot with some borrowed tools in probably about 15 hours of work. Hopefully a real shop could do it quicker, but it's still labor intensive because you have to drop the transmission out.

For someone that has done it before (and if you're taking it to a shop, I really hope so) I couldn't imagine it taking more than 5-6 hours to replace the clutch. I couldn't tell you about the flywheel but I wouldn't think it would be very costly, probably $100-150. Any higher and you might as well pay the $300 for the Fidanza. I managed to pull the whole engine in a total of about 7 hours between 2 days. That's with labeling everything and organizing as I went.

Mitchells labor time for clutch change is 4.6 hours....I couldn't find a time for resurfacing flywheel but to resurface brake rotors (2) is 2 hours so I couldn't imagine it being any more that that.....I would say prolly an hour to resurface the flywheel

I believe alldata says 4.5hr for clutch and maybe and extra .5hr max to resurface the flywheel and replace the pilot bearing.

^yeah a local shop for me quoted 4.5 hours labor @ $60/hour, so about $270 for the labor before a magic $50 in tax, grief, beer, etc. shows up on the bill haha...I have all the replacement parts though, so that didn't include any resurfacing...or any parts for that matter...i'm still planning on doing it myself, though...so i never followed through to see how accurate that quote was...

Install, that's a pretty accurate quote if it was just for labor. It shouldn't take more than that but honestly if you have an open day sometime I would suggest just doing it yourself. The hardest part about the whole thing was getting the axels out of the trans after that it was just some bolts and it popped right off. I could explain further if there's any confusion on it. Depends how mechanically savy you guys are (and I know Install can do this)
