Hello, I am new to the forums here and I am quite angry because I can't sign into Mazda626.net right now for some odd reason, but I digress. I found a 93 mx6 with only 50k miles on it on craigslist and it has the KLZE. However, it is automatic. I was wondering how costly it would be to change it to a 5spd or is it even worth it? Can it be converted easily?

I found that listing, and it sounds pretty sketchy. Make sure you know how to identify the KLZE when you go to check it out. My buddy bought a PGT that supposedly had a ZE and it was just a DE that had the Mazda valve covers. Needless to say, it was a bucket of problems and he regretted the decision. He's never gotten much quality for his buys in that price range, though.

An auto to manual swap will be more complicated than a motor swap, since you take the motor out, bolt the flywheel and clutch on, swap the trans, and cut out the spot for the clutch, mount the pedal, etc etc.

I would have read that thread, but I'm off to work.

Did you end up getting your clutch fixed on the 626?

clutch fixed, got it back the day of my grad party :)

i didnt look intot the ad too much, I just glanced over it. The work part of the swap wouldn't be hard for me, I know two great mechanics that do anything for me well and cheap. I'm just wondering how much it would cost for a conversion.

I'd just go to pull a part, they seem to have the best prices. You can get a trans for like 80$, then everything else you'd need. I'd think maybe 4-500$ for everything. Depends on how much you get new and how much you get used. Like do you really want junkyard axles?

Could be a fun gamble haha.

Well doesn't look like I'm doing anything for now because my car has decided it needs a new alternator.
High mileage cars >:l
