Kind of a dumb question, but.....

I just wanted to know that when you shift a MS3 into reverse, is there something that you have to pull up, to get it into R.

Because when I went and sat in one, I couldnt tell if it was going into R or 1st(uhm). Believe it or not I have drove many manual cars before and I am good at it. But they were all down and to the right. Not up and to the left.
Thanks
Ryan

you have to push it straight down into the ground and then move it up in first position. You will feel the tension spring resisting when you push it in. I'm always scared about taking my car in for service or body work that someone will put the car through a wall trying to back it out :(

when i test drove an rx8, the dumbass salesman put it on a curb thinking he was in reverse -- granted this was at a non-mazda dealer, but still

I guess its not such a big deal for me since I used to have a jetta vr6 that was the same way-- and actually, it makes a lot more sense than the typical setup if you think about it

lol, the day I drove the MS3 home, i park the car at home and a few buddies get in for a little ride...I couldnt figure out how to get it into reverse!!! so, one of them got out and pushed the car out of the driveway into the road, lol. later i read the manual and you simply just push down on the stick and it will let it go all the way to the left

Alright thanks guys, so to rap this up. To go into Reverse you have to push the shifter down and then move it into R(cool)

Don't feel bad. The day I got my MS3 I put it in 6th thinking it was reverse. I was so used to my other car and reverse is where 6th would have been if I had a 6th gear in that car.

its liek peole tryign to drive bugs all over again!! (but that was down and second! lol)
