Kicked off train in middle of nowhere

Hey, I figured we have some smart people on here so I just wanted to get some opinions on the matter. (it may seem ridiculous to some but bear with me). I just wanted to see what people opinions were because a friend and I got kicked off a train running from Chicago to my hometown because I had my feet on the seats. While my friend got a warning earlier for having his feet up (which he took right down and apologized) I think many can relate to the fact that at 12 o'clock on a train, the last one is thinking about is the placement of their feet. Anyways, the conductor calls me over tells me to stand by the door and I calmly ask him is i was getting kicked off and he ill-manneredly (don't know if thats a word but oh well) told me I was and I asked if I could go get my friend who was with me and he said yes but said if i didn't cooperate he'd stop the train and have me arrested (I still kept my cool but after that I got rather upset and people that know me know that I am one of the calmest people ever...maybe not ever but I'm quite passive...got my friend and we left). Anyways, we are left in a town 30 minutes away, 12 o'clock at night with really no way to get home. Is there anything I can do about this except blow off steam on a protege forum? (blah)

Chris

P.S. some guy sued Amtrak for getting kicked off a train because he had profanity on his shirt...I have anything like that on Metra? I know it sounds childish but I'm extremely unhappy.

getting kicked off a train must suck huge hairy donkey balls. damn. how did you get home? :(

That sucks and could be considered an over excretion of policy by the employees on the train. Their policy does state they can remove any passenger for disobeying the orders of the train staff. The fact that they told your friend to remove his feet then see you having your feet up to them looks like you were disobeying their orders.

Still seems way too much of a punishment for something so trivial could always call them and state your opinion on the matter. Sometimes being cool and collective has a huge impact.

Had bad service once in a restaurant and wrote a extremely concise and objective complaint which I got a call back repeatly the next day. In return got $100 free meal from them. :)

Well then.. that just totally proved him wrong...

hehe no the stupid comment would have been
"Well that sucks...did you get home?" :)

haha, my friends girlfriend ended up having to wake up, pick us up at a nearby 711...she's not a happy camper either. We were also left in a very trivial neighborhood!

Please accept my sincere apology for not expressing my sentiments in a more palatable manner. Then, FOAD.

how do you guys think this sounds... I plan to send this to Metra after I run it through ya'll and my wise-father

Metra Rail

To Whom It May Concern:

On the morning of December 30th 2004, I received very unprofessional service from some of your employees on your 11:40 p.m. line departing from Chicago and arriving in Geneva. During the beginning of my ride an employee/attendant of yours respectfully asked my friend to remove his feet from the seat opposite of him, without hesitation or complaint he did so. Nearly thirty minutes into the ride, being a 64 individual, I carelessly set my feet on the seat opposite of me, without even realizing my actions. Minutes later, one of your employees asked me to come with him. He furthermore took me to the middle of your train where the doors releasing passengers outside are placed. He stood in place without saying anything for minutes until I calmly asked him if he planned to kick me off the train. He continued to tell me that he did because I did not follow his conduct. I reasonably argued that I did not receive a warning and was not paying attention to the placement of my feet on the ride. He continued to uncompromisingly tell me that it was not worth arguing and when I asked if I could go tell my friend and pick-up my stuff he aggressively told me that I could but if I did not follow orders he would have the train stopped and have me arrested. After picking up my friend we were embarrassingly let off at your Wheaton station (we also had various people seemingly offering us rides after realized the situation), nearly half an hour away from my home around 1:20 a.m. Here, my friend and I were left for nearly an hour with insufficient clothing while we waited for my friends angry girlfriend to drive from Geneva to pick us up.

While I do realize that it is misconduct to place feet on the seats and I later noticed that even your website states Please refrain from placing feet on seats or upper deck railings, I feel that the punishment for my actions was far to severe for such a trivial action. I also am enraged by the conduct of your employees and the way they decided to handle the situation both through their emotions and their actions.

Sounds good has the sense of being displease with the service.

Ok, thanks. Thanks for the advice on how to handle it also. I still need to go to sports authority tomorrow and by a punching bag tho!

yeah that sucks dude. but that letter will more than likely get you and your friends money back and probly a few comp tickets. i know that working in customer service at sea world in cali, we get letters like that all the time and what ends up happening is they get their money back plus comp tickets for the whole party that was there that day as well as a few free meals in the park.

I have a feeling that they are going to laugh in your face. Probably won't even try to hide it... yeah I'm pretty bitter.

Hold on - so they asked your friend to put his feet down. Then you put your feet up.

lol

Gee - I wonder why you got kicked off. In any case, send the letter - you'll probably get comped since Customer Service dept's pride themselves in doing stuff like that.

It wasn't right away that I got asked to put my feet down. He was at the beggining of the ride before it started and I was about 35 minutes or so in.

do you know shamu personally? if you do could you have him call me, he owes me $20

^^^ acctually shamu has about $1000 dollars in unpaid debt to a local bookie I know. He has quite the price on his head I hear.

Towards the end it should read " far too severe"... That's my only gripe :-) The rest sounds good.

lol fixed the "far too severe" and added some paragraphs since it looked like novice writing as one whole one. Thanks fort the tip tho!
