Keyless Entry Standard?

I just bought a 2005 Mazda 6i from a Nissan Dealership. It's used with 45k Miles. When they gave me the set of keys, I never got a keyless entry remote. This wouldn't be a big deal, but it sometimes is, especially if I want to open the door for my girlfriend and her door doesn't even have a keyhole. So I'd have to run over to my door, unlock it, and then run back over and open her door. This can be annoying. Plus when I just spent that kind of money on a car, I'd like it to have it.

My real question is, was keyless entry standard on my 05 Mazda 6i? It seems like many cars that are even older come with it. Thanks

my 06 had keyless entry... it had a switchblade key.

chances are the dealership never bothered to get the remotes for the car from the mazda dealership, or when it was traded in they previous owner didnt have the remotes. Or the car was bought at auction, and didnt come with remotes, and keys were cut seperately and the dealer didnt bother getting the remotes.

i work at a dealership, and thats usually the situation...

Yeah, prob an auction car that was missing the remotes. You can buy the keyless fobs on ebay, but the dealer will need to flash them.

ebay will be the cheaper way to buy a key fob. also since you have an 05 you can't get a switchblade key for the car. it'lcost around $90 to get it reprogramed at the dealership

Thanks to everyone for the replies.

If i buy one off of Ebay, will I have to get Mazda to program it?

not necessarely. if can get a hold of a mazda shop manual you can do it yourself. i did it it myself on my MS6 after a couple tries.

Do they even still make cars that don't have remote central locking? I've only ever had one car that didn't have it and that was my first car over 20 years ago.

I guess my biggest problem is I don't want to order a remote and find out my car doesn't support keyless entry. I'm pretty sure it does, but I don't wanna take the chance without actually confirming it has the capability.
