TWM is the best. They use a ball bearing bushing and it makes all the difference in the world. You still can use the polyurathane bushings as they go in different spots. TWM also gives you heat shield spacers to lower the heat shield so you don't have to cut or remove it like the others. Install is just as easy as uninstalling the stocker. The kartboy installs the same way. B&M is the tallest and longest throw of the selection and a complete pain in the ass to install, and forget it if you ever need to uninstall it. Kartboy is the shortest in height, TWM is the shortest in throw length and just a little shorter than stock in height. I have Kartboy bushings, TWM shifter and counterweighted knob, and CS bronzeoil bushings. I love my combination.

I have installed and driven on all of them, just not all in my car, but all in proteges.

I believe that Corksport bought the KartBoy design and currently produces it under their name.

you probably have to specify which model you have. IIRC, between the protege, mp3 and msp, one has a different thread and pitch.

Will the stock 03.5 MSP knob fit on the TWM?

the thread is the same only the threaded section is longer. The MSP knob will not fit on a Protege shifter, a Protege knob will fit on a MSP but there will be a gap of threading and space below it. TWM makes a version for both cars.

what kind of gain do you get from switching out the bushings

the stock shifter is kinda mushy and has a bit of play. with the polyurathane bushings alone it reduces a lot of it, makes the shifts feel more positive. also addign the bronzeoil bushings can really firm things up.

Yes it will. The stock MP3 shifter is the odd ball of the bunch. It has different threading so MP3 can NOT be used with the MSP or Protege shifters and vise versa.

Even though I have a MP3 I bought the TWM shifter for the MSP and bought a MSP stock shift knob. I also have the Kartboy shifter bushings, and reccomend them highly (TWM also makes there own version). With the awsome ball bearing from the TWM shifter and the bushings, there is absolutley no "slop" and the shifts they feel crisp and controlled.

When I was looking for a SS I researched a long time (over a month). After looking at all the shifters I could find (TWM, Kartboy, B&M, ebay knockoffs, etc.) I found that the TWM is the best if you are looking to actually reduce your shift the most and have a good quality product.

EDIT: If I remember correctly you don't need bronzoil bushings for the TWM because of the ball bearing already in the TWM shifter.

The MSP knob will only work with the MSP version of the TWM, the regular Pro or Pro 5 TWM version's threaded section isn't long enough. Trust me on that, it's how i managed to get a free weighted knob. The bronze oils come in a set of four, if you have the TWM you only use two, for the reason you stated two are not used because of the ball bearings bushings, but the other two are used on the lateral axis portion of the shift linkage. They make a difference too, you should feel my shifter.

I trust you on the MSP knob not working with the regular Protege. I think I also read something about that prior. I never knew that you could use the bronzoil bushings anywhere else then the shifter itself. But I am happy enough with the combo I have now, and don't feel like taking the shifter apart to install the little things.

Also, I would recommend getting a new shifter boot (from redline goods I think??). It gets rid of the baggines and is a very nice addition to the inside of the car, being that its made out of actual leather (not sure what the MSP boot is made of).

...you should feel my shifter.

(boom03)(boom02)(boom01), are you trying to come onto me?? LOL
