Does anyone have the K&N typhoon sri on thier speed 3?? K&N has alwas made quality air intakes but Im doubting the estimated hp gain of 25.68 that they claim. Most of the sri from cpe, cobb and others are making 10-15...Still I do like the heatsheild and how it looks in the enginebay..The piping looks good size as well as the filter, is pretty close to the front of the car. But I dont know if it throws check engine lights without a air straighter or anything of this intake cause I have seen 0 reviews whatso ever on this intake...any imput would be very nice :)

I call BS on the 25 hp claim, and $320 is twice as much as the Cobb SRI. I don't know of anyone on this forum that has a K&N SRI in their Speed3.

Not many people will buy it due to the price being so high. If you like it a lot, you can be the first and report back!

Yeah my feelings exactly regarding the overprice you pay and 25 hp claim..I just wish that the cobb and cpe sri had the heatshield, which makes *alittle* bit difference and also the k&n seems to have slightly longer piping so the air filter is farther away from the engine..another thing i wish cobb and cpe did. imagine a cpe nano or cobb sf intake thats closer to the grill of the car and heat shielded..now were not talking huge differences..but anytime you can get ever so slightly colder air and your filter is farther from the hot engine..the better off you be..but anyways..I might get the k&n..My main concern is I dont wanna throw a cel or have any maf issues cause im gonna combine the intake with the cobb accessport. Thanks for the imput guys(yes)

Come to think of it, I was reading a post about the heatshield and the air is gonna get warmer when it passes through the turbo anyways, and I just got my 09 ms3,which previously had a civic si..which is a n/a car and makes sence, since air goes from filter, intake, manifold engine. But for a turbo car not as much..so unless anyone objects im gonna go with the cp-e nano and htp turbo inlet and hope those work well together :)

I was looking at getting the k&n, it was on my next purchase list, but I have been researching the cobb ap, and there OTS maps are only designed for their sri, or the mazda speed cai, so after reading through there notes for the tunes I am going to get the mazdaspeed cai, so I can hopefully run an OTS tune without any issues. If they had a tune that would work with the k&n I would most likely buy one.

yeah Id love to go with a cai, but wont take that hydrolock chance, ive already done it..living in the pacific northwest doesnt help..its super-rare but can happen. So I just ordered the cobb sf intake lastnight instead of the nano, cause i plan on running a cobb ap later and want things to be smooth as possible. Combine that with htp turbo inlet that I ordered lastnight as well. Should be good to go on the intake of this car now. Thanks :)
