K&N filter for the Mazdaspeed 6

I dropped a K&N in the air box and it seems to be just fine. K&N hasn't made the model specific filter yet, but I sized one up and it fits perfect. It's filter #33-2145-1. I also modified the air dam and innercooler shroud a little to protect the innercooler. I noticed the innercooler was getting some damaged due to the gapping wide stock thick, plastic mesh. I cut out that mesh, then took some thinner, smaller aluminum mesh and wraped the air inlets of the air dam to keep the rocks, leaves, bugs, ect away from the innercooler. I'm lookin' for a set of hard pipes to redo the plumbing, but I havn't had any luck.

yep hard pipes would be custom this early in the game :) Good luck on that! You have any pictures of the mod wiht the mesh?

Gimme a couple of days. My camera got stolen, and I still need to get a new one. I may hold off on the hard pipes and have a buddy of mine build a front mount. I think it'd be meaner than hell!

if the space in front of the radiator is the same as ours... you could fit watermellons there...

There seems to be a good 4"-5" between the radiator and the bumper. I haven't taken it all the way apart yet, though. My plan is to go with the front mount, I'll probably build my own short ram, I'd like to get someone to build a single tip turbo-back exhaust, injectors, retune the fuel pump, some tranny work, short-throw, coil overs, eventually a little bigger turbo, and new shoes. (No particular order). Tuning it is gonna be a bia-bia. The car has variable vehicle management controled by the computer. I'll most likely have to get a stand alone engine management system to perform most of those mods, which means I gotta wait for somebody to either crack the code, or make one specifically for it. It's kinda crippling to the car. I HATE TECHNOLOGY!!!!! If there's any geeks out there willing to help the cause, let me know. Just please don't blow up my motor.

I had my local parts store check on the filter size for the MS6, came up with the K&N #33-2279. It was was crossed with normal filter.

It fit perfect, same filter the V6 Mazda 6 uses.
