Just thought I'd share some pictures with you guys of my newly installed JVC KW-AVX810 in-dash DVD unit.

I'm loving it so far... it comes with a USB port that supports iPod (through the regular iPod USB cable) and a SD slot.

very nice. I always thought the protege's center dash was perfect for one of those, it looks perfect in there.

nice nice, id love to find a touch screen like that so i can do some kind of engine tuning right in the dash, it would be pimpin

What I was thinking would be fun to do was install a carputer, hook it up to the touch screen and have some kind of software that does everything for me... on screen gauges, tuning, alarms, media, etc. Of course, this specific touch screen is not capable of communicating with a computer, but I'm sure there are some nice 7" screens out there which are.

Speed of ipod?

I have one of these bad boys too. Right now I'm only rocking the basic ipod USB 2.0 cable to control my ipod over the HU. I find it REALLY slow though, like to load songs it takes forever. With my Alpine single DIN deck scrolling through songs was just as seamless as on the ipod itself.

I've ordered a JVC KS-U20 Audio and Video Cable for ipod mainly because I want to watch videos off my ipod on this HU, but I also found that it offers "high-speed audio and video streaming". I was wondering if you had any experience with this extra JVC cable and knew if it would speed up the scrolling process, because right now it's friggin' unbearable...
