well i got the compressor shaft apart, turns out its reverse threaded so i was tightening it instead of loosening lol

and BUMP for the answer to my question ^

well just took apart the turbo i got from js_protege
i took it off the car cuz it was blowing buy a s*** load of oil and i figured i would use it to see how to take a turbo apart and see what caused the leak
got the housings off and now im trying to get the turbines apart so i can look at the inside, but those things are a b**** to get off


and anybody know why these turbo's arent rebuild able? i know nobody makes a replacement ball bearing but the make rebuild kits for the non ball bearings
couldnt i use the seals from the non ball bearing ones in this turbo or are they not the same?

sorry buddy i'm no expert at turbos, but i'm fairly confident the internal build of a BB and a journal housing is way different. i really doubt they will swap.

what bearings did you get for your motor?

and how did you know which ones to get?

bearing? you mean like main bearings and rod bearings?
i got OEM bearings, people will say that toga bearings or clevite bearings are better but there are plenty people who use OEM and have not had any problems at all

i just ordered the Rebuild Package from PG and it came with pretty much everything i needed (including thrust bearings, which do not come with the other gasket kits)

its basically up to you on which brand you want

yeah that's the issue i'm running into right now.. what the best would be for me. oem, clevitte, acl...

and how to know which sizes to get.

and to the size question, normally you need stock size bearings, oversize bearings are normally only when the crank is really scarred or scratched up ie (spun rod bearing)

there is also stuff called plastigauge that you use to measure and see if your clearances are within spec, if not then have the crank turned and get oversize bearings, if they are then your all good
its pretty cheap stuff but very helpful, you can find alot of engine building tools on Jegs, thats where i got the stuff i needed, like a piston ring compressor, piston ring grinder, plastigauge, AN wrenchs...and some other stuff

lol. i dont think i'm gonna build the MOTOR myself.. my intention was to get dino to do it. and if that's the case, i'll go up and help him build it.

I"m going to be fabbing up the s/c bracket, turbo mani, intercooler/piping, wiring up the haltech as standalone.. etc etc..

also, i plan on getting ARP studs for everything.. so that kit may not work for me.

well i still used ARP head and main studs lol i have the extra stock ones that im prob goin to sell once i get all my un used stuff together in a FS thread

sanded and primed some eyelids that im selling to SCMP3, figured i would post some pics

well my car got broken into and danced on last night
to say im mad would be an understatement, i havent gotten any sleep since yesterday night, technically 2 nights ago, and i just had to have my car towed from charlotte to fayetteville, which is a 3 hour drive

window got busted out, ipod stolen, walked up the hood and windsheild to the roof and danced on it

**** people who do this s***, i could really, literally kill people who **** with peoples stuff just for fun, whats the point? why would you destroy something someone worked so hard to build,
especially a ****** car, so i need a new window and if i can get it, i would like a new roof

yea tell me about it, im lucky they didnt steal more then my ipod
i waited in my brothers car right next to my car for 2 hours until the tow truck showed up to make sure nobody stole anything else from my car

but man its goin to take me forever to get all that glass out, it shattered everywhere

i know how it feels though, my car got broken into a while back and they stole my 1100 dollar system i had. took me a christmas and a summer to save up for it!!
the broke the window and everything!
i hate people who do that
and the fact that my car was all the way up in my drive way too!

yea well an 1100 dollar stereo system is tempting, but breaking a window for a ****** ipod?
they just wanted to **** with my car for no reason

im not driving it back up there, im driving my cousins car and only gonna drive the p5 every other weekend once i get the window fixed
im tired of people destroying my car, my car does not have a single dent on it that was caused by me, and trust me
there are quite a few dents lol

nah, i was parked on the side of the road by the entrance to my apartment complex
no cameras and no people saw what happened apparently
