03MSP no mas
truth is, my (stock) MSP just yesterday started to HAUL ASS?
not the normal 3k-5k RPM boost feeling but....
a KICK ASS 5k+RPM feeling!!!

again the car is STOCK...
as much as i love the feeling, i just wonder WHY and WHATS next; BOOM?

without a boost gauge i cant tell what i WAS boosting vs. WHAT i am now...
ANY SUGGESTIONS or has this happened to anyone?

mileage just hit 40K thus my title...
figured after 40K miles...mazda gave me a lil''gift?
probably not..though

You might have a leak in the WG accutator line. It would be the same ting as adding a boost controller except there was no "Control" over it..

You're probably boosting MUCH more than you should be. I would promptly take it to the dealer for warranty work.

yeah, i have an appt. tomorrow AM....
hopefully all is well, but i'm not going to lie, feels GREAT but just scary!

i dont even think i hit 6.5K rpm....and the PULL is GREAT
makes me want to start upgrading..!
THANKS

Kinda like the same great feeling I got when my GTX tried to separate my head from my body in the first three gears all of a sudden. A glance at the boost gauge showed 21 psi...from a VJ-16 turbo. That's a lot of airflow. Wastegate line was put back on and zip tied really good!

easy way to test the wastegate, get a pump, preferably with a gauge on it, and hook it up to the vacuum line that goes to the wastegate and start pumping. watch the needle on the pressure gauge go up.

watch for the wastegate actuator and verify at what pressure it starts moving. if it doesnt move, you have a leaking wastegate diaphragm

or yeah take the easy way out and bring it to the dealer .... lol

enjoy your warranty =) ... that option didnt even come up to mind, i'm so used to fix my own problems cuz the dealers around here dont wana see my car

good ol'MAZDA just gave me back my car....
with a NEW TURBO too

i was told the reason the boost spiked was due to a leak in the turbo and that a rod (i think what he said) pushed through something????
either way, the turbo was NOT regeistering boost thus FULL BOOST was in effect and I LOVED IT

anyhow, its back to NORMAL and i want MORE BOOST NOW...!
so i will be reading a ton of threads on here...

YES, the dealer warranty is great but i dont have long!!!!!
the turbo has an extension now but...thats it!

yep the wastegate actuator was leaking so the actuator's arm wasnt pushing the wastegate open anymore =)

u shoulda asked me for a ride at that "statewide" meet thebryguy put together... new turbo = sweet. hope u have a turbo timer too...

I think having an open blow-off valve and a broken wastegate = SLOW

And a bypass valve and a broken wastegate = FAST

Because when mine broke, I had no power but when everyone else's wastegate breaks (and they have no BOV) they get to feel the power of more boost.

I'm just jealous.

i have a BOV and my WGA broke and it was FUN

it was a turbosmart dualport recirculated into the intake. no BPV

The wastegate stuck open sucks, the wategate stuck closed is fun. When your wastegate doesnt open it allows you to boost high PSI though when stuck open it doesnt allow you to boost at all.

yeah, its back to stock so after running FULL BOOST (18+ lbs)
6+ sucks!!!!

and NO, i have no timer but i do wait (like a dummy)
but arent our turbos water/oil cooled?
i was on the garrett site trying to figure out WHY/HOW mine messed up...
but ended up saying...i have NO idea as they had all sorts of formulas & s***
made me feel stupid..should have stayed in CAL huh?
owell

yeah, what YOU said sounds more like what i heard?

the mechanic showed me how to get back to FULL BOOST though
pull a hose from here, make sure its pluged/closed off

he mentioned the block is the same as the MIATA's (which can handle 20lbs)
but that w/o engine managment, it would NOT last long
i have NOT read enough to know any of this but i guess its about time...
any words of wisdom? (besides do a SEARCH)

I'm not sure about the block, but I'm reasonably sure that the rods can't take nearly that much boost.
