Just got a new 2007 Mazda5 GT, only option was the homelink mirror. I think i got a good deal, I paid $19,938 plus $498 doc fee (what a rip) plus TTL ended up with $21,977 OTD. I know I found helpful knowing what others paid so I am hoping it will help other negotiating their price.

Now going to find a good deal on tinting, any recomendations for the Atlanta area?

Welcome aboard.... have some fun

BTW do you have automatic intermittent wipers????

If you did I heard that there may be an issue with the auto wiper system and the homelink/Auto dim etc. Ask your dealer to research...

price?

Just curios. You said you paid 19938. Thats just about invoice, plus you got the homelink mirror.
So they sold you the car, at below invoice price?
I understand they made some money on the holdback, but would a dealer in atlanta be in such a hurry to get rid of a gt at such a slim to none profit, when you add in the mirror?

Stay safe.

Z5Z: I don't think there is an automatic wipers option for the US version.

FF: I got quotes from 2 dealers over the phone/email. Went to the one that had the car I wanted (3rd dealer). They asked me what price they had to beat, I gave them the lowest price I had from the 2 dealers (invoice) minus $300 (a $200 doc fee seemed reasonable). They agreed to match the price and then I pulled a $250 discount coupon (first) they had on their website if you asked for their internet department . The sales guy talked to the manager and they agreed on honoring the coupon.

The car I got does not have the mirror and they are ordering it and installing it as soon as they get it (mirror was part of the deal). I did not trade anything in or financed though them, already had an aproved loan with my CU with a 4.9 rate that they could not beat. Dealer is Sutherlin Mazda in Buford, GA.

After we had reached a deal, the sales guy told me it was a very slow day and that he was surprised the manager had agreed to the deal, but that they wanted to sell a new car. Don't know how much money they made on the deal, i just know I got a good price. The car had 3 miles on it; they had just received it and it was on their back lot.

Congratulation on your new ride. I would say you got a fantastic deal on the vehicle, especially with the add on. If I was going to buy a gt, and got a deal like yours, even without the mirror, I would be overjoyed.
In fact I called up three dealers near me, who all have the gt, and offered invoice, and they practically laughed me off the phone.
I guess sometimes things work out. My offer went as high as invoice plus 300, with the cargo cover and floor mats. They all wanted at least a thousand more.
They even had a demo gt, with five thousand miles on it and they wouldnt go lower then 20,800.
We started looking for fun at some mpv, and tribute and cx7 in the showroom a few days ago, and oh how they were willing with no provocation on us, to throw out numbers that were real low. It seems they think the mazda 5,s are gold or something.
I wonder when they will think that maybee not, because of the 06 inventory they have.

Must have to do with your location. I had been watching their inventory for a while and they had the only GT in the Atlanta area, but it had the DVD system which was not worth the extra $1000 for me. I saw it sit on their lot for about 2-3 months and was going to see if they would deal on it. They received 2 additional GTs with no options and that is when I sent RFQs to the other dealers.

Like you say, maybe give it some time and check their inventory to see how it is moving.

BTW, according to carsdirect.com, invoice for that car is $21,104. Edmunds gives me a different invoice price, $20,897 so depending on who you believe I paid either a little under or over $1,000 below invoice for the car. Not bad.
