THe kit is very bright and awesome.. the only problem is approx. every 3-5 minutes the passenger side headlight will shut off... then i have to turn the healights off and back on to get it to kick on. This happens EVERY 3-5 minutes. Anybody have any ideas to what could be the cause?

what brand kit is it??

i dont think that would cause it to shut off like that. It has to be some kind of problem with either the igniter, or balast....also could be a bad connection.

change the headlight fuses from 15AMP to 20AMP.

how does changing the fuse affect anything? its not like he is burning the fuse or something. if anything it would be the relay but i dont know much about electrical stuff.

i got the kit off cqlight.ca

I'm wondering if the bulb is getting too close to the lampshade inside the housing... thats about the only explanation i can come up with.. im pretty sure all the connections are ok. I plan on calling up the company tomorrow.. just was checking to see if anybody had similar problems

bad kit, plain and simple. You get what you pay for.
Nice response.. but i have numerous friends with the same kit, and none of them had problems. Instead of being a dumb ****, try giving a response that might lead to some kind of resolution to what the problem is. There are always expensive parts that dont work too, nothing is immune from not working no matter what the price.

i agree 100%..im running the same kit from cqlight.ca. I had the same problem for the first few weeks, when i turned the lights on the passenger side ballast wouldn't fire up sometimes..........its been perfect since then..had the kit since november. i vouch for cqlight kits...plus they have a LIFETIME warranty. Just because the kit doesnt have a brand name label on it doesnt mean its a bad kit.......in fact the cqlight kit has been sold to other companies who put their label on the kit and sell the kits for 50-100 dollars more.

Have you contacted the site you bought em from. see if they have a troubleshooting guide or anything.

wait, i think i read your post wrong...once mine fired up they were fine, it was firing up where they would fail once in a while...i'd check the connections unplug everything and re plug it all back in. sounds like theres somthing loose. if that doesnt work just give them a call.

My driverside HID would go out a few seconds after i turned on the lights, then i took the hid's out and realized that my lights dim after a few seconds and that drop in voltage was probably what the problem was. I think it might be the headlight relays but I'm not sure yet, I gotta change mine and see.

Okay, since the kit was cheap, and made in large numbers more than likely, due to the deficiencies in mass production manufacturing, you got a bunk kit. Sure it may "go away" after awhile, but you paid for a working kit, you should get a working kit. WHen you're wondering what to do? SEND IT BACK!
