Just got my license back after 3 months suspension!

My cousin who patrols around Chicago got passed in a 35mph zone just over a hill by high school students doing an estimated 80-90mph. Some people are just ******* stupid, but then again all high school students are. The key difference is some know where to do it relatively safely and some don't. He gave them 'the talk' and a ticket just under the limit that would have put them in jail.

I used to believe that if I kept over 80mph on the interstates, I wouldn't be caught from behind. Ironically, my only two speeding tickets were from an officer traveling towards me in opposing traffic. Nothing nearly as bad as what some of you were doing though! (stooges)

My experience getting ****** by the law was the fact Illinois told me to pay $40 and take an online drivers safety course to keep the first ticket off my record. I did just that, and 9 months later, with the ticket on my record, they denied that the program even existed. It fell from my record when I turned 21, and $40 is not worth my time to fight for.

Yeah, I've learned when and where to speed. Rule 1: Never speed on a road when you are by yourself, even if you have a radar detector.

Back in 2005, I was going to a school at night about 30 minutes from where I lived, and I was heading down a road by myself doing 62 in a 40 and had my Valentine 1 going. Cop spot-checked me and pulled me over, came up to my window, saw the V-1 and goes "Ah, that didn't save you this time, did it?" I responded "Guess not" and laughed a little. 5 minutes goes by, the cop comes back with a ticket and goes "Since you paid so much money for that, I'm going to let you off easy. Here's an obstruction of view ticket, $45, no points. Just slow it down please." I said thank you and drove off.

3 weeks later, next town over on the way home from school doing 69 in a 50. Cop spot-checks me and pulled me over, came up to my window, saw the V-1 and goes "Ah, that didn't save you this time, did it?" A little shocked, I again responded "Guess not" and laughed a little. 5 minutes goes by, the cop comes back with a ticket and goes "Since you paid so much money for that, I'm going to let you off easy. Here's an obstruction of view ticket, $45, no points. Just slow it down please." My jaw dropped, I said thank you and drove off.

if that's true, that's a helluva story. you reckon they have a cop class on what to tell speeders when they see their radar detectors?

Its 100% true. Was completely amazed the first time that I got off easy, and dead shocked the second time when the cop said the exact same thing. And there was no way it was the same cop since it was 2 different towns and it wasn't a state trooper.

That was the last time I've been pulled over by a cop and I indeed learned my lesson. I actually don't even use the V-1 anymore (Have 2 of em, but one needs to be repaired) and have never used it with the MS3. I should probably put it back on for insurance when getting pulled over =P

just got my license back after a 4 month suspension, 120 in a 55. i was suspended because I had to postpone twice and the judge wasn't happy about that esp given the speed do he suspended my license pending the next hearing. luckily the dmv postponed the hearing so i got my license back earlier. hoping the cop retires or doesnt show up that way i won't have to worry about the points, fees, and insurance

Hey, a good way to look at any speeding ticket is

YOU'RE JUST PAYING TO GO FASTER THEN MOST OTHER PEOPLE

That's the way I look at it. But if you crash into someone, or kill someone... eye for an eye

I would disagree. You are actually going much much slower than most other people because your stupid ass is sitting on the side of the road.

Nothing pisses me off more than cops that lie. It has happened to me 2 times in my life and I was struck dumb due to it. I was in the military for 9 years and know what it's like to wear a uniform to perform my duties and fully understand the responsibility that comes with that uniform.

Just like with criminal profiling, I no longer trust cops at all. Even over the most simple things. If I'm wrong, then by all means I accept my responsibility and pay my dues. But if I take the time to go to court then by all means I'm going because I'm 100% right and know if I explain the situation than it will be all good. However, I never expected the cop to flat out lie about the entire situation. I also didn't expect in a million years the judge telling me that he understands what I'm saying but the cop wears the badge so he has to believe him.

As far as I'm concerned, cops lie until they prove me wrong. My best advise is if you know you're in the right and being pulled over for something then do everything you can at that very moment to get witnesses, whip out your phone and record the conversation or anything else you can to backup your story. Never expect the cop to say the truth in front of the judge.......NEVER. When you go to court EXPECT the cop to lie and make sure you have TONS of documents to backup your claims and support your case.
