Just got my car Re-Flashed And....

..it still STALLS.

Seems like I have a bigger issue; Air/Idle sensor?...who knows.

Mazda Canada is currently looking into my issue.

What extactly does my car do? Try doing this and let me know if your call Stalls/or almost does:

1. From 2nd Gear, shift to 3rd and punch it hard. Get to about 5-6k RPM and simply put the car in Neutral. Watch to see where your RPM's fall to.

Now granted, I can reproduce this same issue by other techinques even with the clutch engaged, so it simply doens't happen while in Neutral. The above technique will stall, or almost die my car out 95% of the time. And as I mentioned, while I don't drive like this, "properly" driving when RPM'S rise quickly then drop (accelerating/decelerating), will stall my car out.

Sorry guys...I forgot to mention that I'm running BONE STOCK.

I also had my first 8000km inspection done....no leaks in hoses.....everything checked out fine.

DOes it make it worse based on electrical load?

Like it almost stalls when doing this but have the AC on and it will stall every time?

Nope....I can have everything turned OFF, and it still behaves the same as if I had everything ON.

I have to say vac leak. Maybe a hole in the Intercooler cores.
No CEL's I take it?

The only thing I can say is that you should be given a new car No. 5.

That's BS

Feel MY PAIN AND FUSTRATION.

I'm patient, and understand things take time to fix. But I've had this car, for like 7 months, and it stalls, or behaves as if it's going to stall, almost daily.

Get a new car? - no way in hell Mazda Canada would do that. I'm stuck with this headache.

I'm also getting a second set of D Bushings...the car is starting the bang-bang-bang again with the first set of D's.

So let's see...a little less than 8000km's and (1) stress cracked windshield (2) Stalling (3) 2 sets of bushings (4) Crooked steering wheel, car pulls slightly to the right, although the dealership said a wheel alignment was done after delivery....hmmmmm

I don't know about canada but in the US they have to fix it or its a lemon and they must buy it back.
Also if they have to fix the same problem 3 times in one year and the problem reoccures then it is also a lemon and they mus buy it back.

Thats not a lemon, even by tough Ohio standards. Remember lemon laws vary state to state... and obviously country to country. Alot more is going to have to go wrong before that car will be taken back. The stalling issue though can be considered a deadly defect. Check with one of those crazy canadian lawyers and see if you are covered since the defect is dangerous and could cause harm during public driving. I would assume canada has some kind of consumer protection right?

Hey No.5. Where did you go to get flashed?

So you're saying that the only time the car stalls is when the rpm's suddenly drop? If so, do they drop to a certain point and then stall or does it just stall? How is your idle? I'm thinking it could be a throttle body problem. But I'm just picking at straws here. Hell, I've only looked under the hood of an MSP only once, briefly.

Destination Mazda; they have been the most proactive Mazda dealership in Wpg (in my perspective).

But...there has been an update to my case as of this afternoon. Mazda Canada QA contacted Destination Mazda and is sending a "part" via courier that will apparently fix my problem. Don't know what the part is, but alteast Mazda Canada has acknowledged my concern and seems to be trying to help.

I will keep you all posted when this "part" is installed on my car.

Service at Destination Mazda is great.

Mine does the same thing. If I accelerate and the person in front of me slows down I push in the clutch and it dies. Sometimes the revs just dip real low and it keeps running.

I just had my car flashed monday, but it has been doing this since I've had it.

Lucky me....seems like I'll be the first one in North America with this "new part". Apparently I was told that this part has been released via Mazda's QA committee, and it not available yet to the Part distribution area.

New engineered Part, or old part?...Not Sure.

In any event, MCI (Mazda Canada Inc.) seems very optimistic that this part will fix my stalling.

Interesting MSPainter...you have the extact same thing which leads me to believe I'm not an isolated case. I'll PM you with what this Part is when installed, and ofcourse if it fixes my problem.

My car should be going back for servicing within the next few days.

Are you running an open air BOV ? The way your car stalls, it sounds like that would be the case.

No my car is completely stock:confused:

I plan on putting my MBC on this weekend, I hope it doesn't make it worse

Don't PM MSPainter only, post it, since I think it is a safety issue, that MSP owner should be aware of.

PART UPDATE

Update as of September 24,2003

Mazda installed a new Air-Intake hose, which is apparently a wider diameter than the stock one. It's also secured with heavy duty clamps at both the Turbo and Air Box.

I don't have a Part # yet since the Dealership had to submit this paper work to Mazda Canada (took about an hr to install when Mazda Canada said it would take 15 minutes.) Anyways, they will mail out the service paper to me when they are done with the administrative stuff; hopefully it will have the Part #.

My car does not stall anymore with new updated hose

All my old ways of reproducing the Stall,.....I just can't stall it anymore.

Yah!....now I'll moniter over the long term. Gee....and after all this time, that was the problem.....

Once I have a Part #, I'll post it.
