Just got an I Pod its cool and all, Is there another program besides quicktime pro I can use to convert videos, and movies to the format needed for them to play on the ipod?

*threadjack* i saw a car like yours (nautical2086) on the jersey turnpike last september when my wife and i were driving back from nh. didn't know if it was you or not.

Highly doubt it was me considering I've never driven on the turnpike, I was on rt 18 or highway 18 which is right next to the turnpike in oct, but not sept.

As you all may know the recent ipod has the ability to play videos. If you are like me you probably have a highly built up stash of DVDs that you would like to be able to view on your iPod. Due to the video formats which your iPod plays, you cannot simply put a DVD in your computer drive and transfer the video into iTunes. To watch DVDs on your iPod you must first rip them onto your computer and then convert them to the iPod format.

There are many programs that convert videos but most are highly confusing or really slow. I have found the answer which will allow you to convert DVDs quickly and efficiently. Follow the guide located here: http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/guides.html

On my computer (AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3500+ 2.19 GHz with 1 gig of ram) the DVD ripping took about 25 minutes for the 3 hour long movie TROY. Once ripped the actual conversion took about 1 hour 15 minutes. The end product in MPEG-4 file format was about 800MB. I then added the movie file to iTunes and verified it worked on my ipod. Once you've verified that the converted product works you can delete the ~4GB unconverted video. This method may be a little time consuming but it is the best way to get DVDs onto your iPod.

Hope it helps

yall wasted your money on it...return it and take the money and save 150 and go buy the rca lyra...it does all that a video ipod can and more. it can rip off the tv and play back as a portable dvd player typish. its awesome....i'm gonna get one once i have the $$ to spend on one.

I use Nero Recode to get video into the right format for my ipod. It works great, if you download the trial, i may be able to get you a serial for the full version

There is a forum for the ipods that has a ton of useful info. Ipodhacks.com. If I got the spelling wrong then google it. I've found info on third party software there that has really helped me out.

for me, the easiest way is to use DVD to IPOD. just google it. you can get their trial and lets you convert like 20 mins max or something.

I used it for a friend, and it worked great. I got a PSP and there is one called DVD to PSP which is what I use.

DVD to IPOD works well, but it didn't have the features that nero did, i can adjust sooo many things in nero. It takes a while, but it is worth it i think.
