Hi everyone,

I just pulled the trigger on a new CX5 GT Metropolitan Grey - with tech pack. Very exciting! The final OTD price was 28,533.00, that includes the cargo cover and window tint. The only downside was the finance, I have to go on monday and shop for my own.

I had other similar quotes from dealers that are about an hour from my house, so I just went with the closest one, about 20 mins. I think I got a good deal, what do you think?

Also, I paid 800 for GAP insurance and no extended warranty, should I shop around for other GAP prices?

Congrats! guessing it's a FWD? and GAP Insurance? did you take the loan out yet or no? did they require that you get the insurance or did they simply ask if you would like? it's unnecessary if you are not forced to. Not sure about the laws in Florida regarding this insurance. GAP pays what your insurance will not cover in a total loss so you will not be getting full coverage I assume?

I took it, they didn't force me, it had a 30 day return policy. I took the loan, but planning to shop around next week for a better deal.

Yes, FWD

Congrats on new CX-5.

Skip Gap insurance and expect about a 1.95 rate via better credit unions.

CEFCU is a good credit union w/rates under 2.0%.

Try to focus on credit union, not banks (like BofA).

If you have good credit try PNC Bank as well (2.59% also). What was the rate they gave you at the dealership? My dealer gave me a 1.9% deal (through Chase as I believe that's who Mazda or at least this dealership deals with) over 6 years but I'm going to be pay it off in about 5 or less.

That is a ridiculously low price. I paid $100 less than that before fees and taxes :-( and I contacted multiple dealers in the SF bay area. So what is the reason for the big discounts? Low demand in Florida?

I paid the same in Central Florida w/ tint, roof rack, wheel lock, and cargo items. My financing was 1.9% through BBT even though the dealer said they use Chase.

I just priced out a CX-5 here in Canada.

CX-5 GT.... $42000 WITH GST/PST and the Tech Package, Remote Start and that cool rear view mirror option.

Not sure if I will purchase it... thats a lot of money.

Check out buying a use one in the states and taking it north. I have a silver GT with Nav and 9000 miles and would let it go and buy a new one for $27,000 usd. But I am in Atlanta (no sales tax on used cars)

Mazda wont honor the US warranty here, plus I have to pay 10% sales (GST/PST) tax to bring it to Sasakatchewan.

I've been looking for a used on in the province, but no luck. I am very tempted to pull the trigger on one but would probably wait for 2014.

Funny you would write this. I bought a used 2010 MX-5 in May of 2011 from North Carolina, and Mazda Canada is honouring the warranty for THAT car. I have had warranty work done without problem. I actually went to my local dealer before closing the US sale and asked them if they would; and they said YES. What they DO is honour the US warranty coverage (which can vary slightly). You do have to pay PST/GST, and also 6.2% customs duty as the vehicle was not assembled in North America. There is also a Receiver of Import Vehicles fee (300$), both a Federal and Provincial vehicle inspection, and you need to pay for any modifications required by Federal regulation - in my case the installation of DRL.

If you have specific questions I can answer those. In my case the all-up in-my-driveway difference (including flight and hotels) between a used US 2010 and a new 2011 was 17,000$. At those savings it was well worth the effort.
