ok so I saw a motorcylce cop turn right ahead of me (about 5-7 cars up) and then zoom off. I turned right and made sure not to go over 45. Next thing I know the cop is pulling me over. He asked me how fast I was going and I said 45, he asked what the speed limit was and I said 50. He says he clocked me at 53, and that the speed limit was 40!
I am so pissed. yea I was doing 45 so get me for what I was doing but I was no where near 53! :wtf:
I remember hearing about a law that allows for up to 55 in buisness and industrial zones that are marked 40. ( I went to traffic school once and the guy read it out of the California Motor Vehicals code book (or whatever it is called). Anyone hear of it or know where I can find it? I am going to fight this with all I can.
I have my final speeding ticket falling off my record this May. I don't want to have it be replaced by this one.

ARGGG this is :bs:

sorry just needed to vent

usually they come off in three years. depends on the insurance company. did you ask to see the radar gun?

Doesn't matter. The cop can make the radar say whatever he wants it to say....there's plenty of tricks.

I am going to school to be a police officer and have done a couple of ride alongs, needless to say been pulled over a few times.
-Ask to see their calibration records for the radar gun, because by law they have to retune them after every stop.
-If that does't work go to court and ask for a continual dismisal. That means it doesn't go on your record but you can't get another moving ticket for atleast one year.
-Always take it to court and give your side of the story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got pulled over by a motorcycle CHP officer about a year and a half ago on the 210 West while on my way to work. I was going about 85 in a 65 so I deserved it, but he pulled two of us over at the same time and that made me even more late to work. Then the guy who hired me for my job questioned my "speeding ticket" story because when I called to tell him I was running late (before the ticket) I said I was stuck in traffic. He failed to comprehend that the reason I was speeding was BECAUSE I got stuck in traffic, then got the ticket trying to make up for the lost time. Ironically I got stuck in traffic again shortly after getting the speeding ticket so it was all in vain. Then after work my car (not the P5) wouldn't start, etc. That day tested everything I had within me.

So I know all about frustration.

It sounds like your situation is different than mine, but I went to online traffic school (for free) and kept the ticket from going on my record. You can only go to traffic school to wipe out a ticket once every year and a half in California.

I didn't know they have to show you the radar gun....that is intresting. Damn wish I would have known that. and he could show me all the calibration records in the world, I would have no idea what I was looking at. I am going to take it to court and cross my fingers that he dosent show up, but it is still annoying. It's a total waste of my time to go to court, to plead not guilty, then get another court date, and have to show up to that (hoping the officer dosen't show). All while taking the time off work to do this. Then if he dose show, it's basicly my word against his, We all know how that will go.
Dosen't he have to know the law exactly as it reads? I heard something on the internet that said when you get to court ask the officer to expalin what moving violation he cited you on and how it reads. If he can not exactly recite it then they can't write you up for it? I don't know about that though.. .anyone here about that? I guess I can also ask to see his calibration records in court right?

Here in ON. 2 years on your police record, but 3 on insurance..

I have to be good till May 30th 2005 (yeah right!!).

hey, you copied my idea for location, oh well. No speeding tix ever here.....I' havent been driving very long.

my insurance is 3 years, and the first one is "free" (doesn't raise your rate)

Most insurance companies are like that, they want to keep your business, and it's not an uncommon event. But it is usually on what are considered minor tickets, anything major, forget about it...

I got pulled over this this thursday ging 120 on 95 and I really dont have no money with all my college expenses and s***. What can I do so I dont have to pay my ticket?

by the way, 120 is pretty good for an MP3, sucks you got caught though :p

Lucky you lives in Florida..

It'll cost you a little money, but better than what insurance will charge you!

You can go to drivers class..

I got my first ticket in florida for running a stop, took it to court, took a class, and it was $10 cheaper than the actual ticket.

Of course it's also dependant on the judge, but hopefully some one who has recently gottne a speeding ticket in Fla. could help you!!
