is it totally ludicrous to think about putting a new renesis rotary in a mp3?
too expensive? if it's mechanically possible I think that would be the most bad ass car. Just wondering.

considering the rarity of the engine and the fact that it was meant for rear wheel drive and the fact that the mp3 is front wheel drive, good luck! sounds like a good way to spend $30,000.

this would NOT be a simple conversion.....to be honest....you would be more likely to totally rip out the front and rear suspensions....design and build a complete tube frame...figure a way to set the body down onto it, make a tunnel for the drive train through the middle of the car, end up with a rotory, and RWD.
due to the way that the body is made to support and be a cage of sorts...this would dramatically DECREASE its ridgidity, it would look cool....and may even run like striped ass ape....but....you may get into saftey concerns.

NOTHING is imposible with enough time and MONEY.

as stated before, the sign in the speed shop says :

"Speed cost money, how fast do you want to go"

I think the automotive industry, and even mazda consider the rotory a very exotic engine, and would not lightly slap it in a car not ment for it. It would be the same as Chevy slapping a corvete engine in a cavlier.

However I have heard roumors about a renisis powered miata... :D

i don't thnk mazda looks at the rotary as an exotic engine becuase they are the only manufacturer using it. for the same reasoning, the rest of the auto industry does look at the rotary as an exotic engine.

and as far as a renesis powered miata, rumors and nothing more. i can't remember where, but i read an interview with the miata head project engineer who said something along the lines of it didn't fit within thier idea of what the miata was meant to be and will never be seriously considered as an engine option.
