Okay, so I know that suspension threads turn into very big, heated threads generally, but I just wanted to get some input on two coilover sets.

First, The JIC Magic FLTA1 look pretty cool, but I really havent heard (or I guess that it would be read) anyone talk about that set.

Secondly, any info on the Tein Super Streets compared to the JICs and visa versa.

I did see a thread comparing the Tein SS to the FLTA2 (from last year), but I was hoping to spend around $1200 - $1500 on a package. The JIC FLTA2 is around $1900. Although, those are not entirely out of the question, but if I were to spend that kind of money I figure I might as well pick up the AWR coilover setup.

I have a 2002 Protg ES and I am really just starting to mod this car (tires & wheels, brakes & brake lines, air intake down so far)or any carever So, any advice would be much appreciated. And yes, this is a DD, but I still want the best that I can get for the money that I am paying

TEIN=no camber plates
JIC=camber plates
Pretty much the $$ difference

Ofcourse there are differences...but for many people that look into coilovers they want the whole enchilada. Meaning if they are willing to spend over $1000 they might not want to use the stock rubber upper mounts (TEIN) and they want the super hard ride quality of solid pillo-ball mounts (JIC). But that incours a substancial price increase. Two people here that just got this sets that you can PM for their experiences...JDM Sam just installed JIC FLA2 and LinuxRacr installed the TEIN SS. I have the Ksports.

You either LOVE the JIC's or HATE it. It is very harsh for daily driving. It's more for tracks. You'll need a very strong bra for the women and jock straps and stomach straps for the men. LOL I have this running in the 3rd gen sedan. After two years, the ride has smoothed out very little...much better than when it was new....

The Teins are more for street driving but with the sporty feel. I honestly like the Teins better. I have this running in the P5.

Yeah, i think that i am going with the JIC's then. I want a harsh ride...yeah... Personally though, i would rather have the best coilover with a harsh ride, rather than a good coilover with a descent ride.

that's just me though...

Thanks for the feed back!

i dont know what BeNeg's got, but i'm getting the flta2's after some thought...A1 -- twin tube... A2 -- monotube

yea, the monotube really is an insanely good design.

but about the whole harsh ride issue- cant you adjust the damping to a more street tuned feel so they aren't always super stiff?

yes, from all the instruction that i have seen i dont think that it will be to difficult. The A2s also have more settings so that you can play a little more...:-)

Hm. I don't know much about Mazda suspension (yet!) but from my experiences on the 240sx forums, the JIC-FLTA1's are the shiznit when they work, but their customer service is the pits. One drift team canceled their JIC sponsorship based on the customer service they had (i.e., over a month to even look at a damaged coilover).

I've never heard anything bad about the Tein's though..

Just something to consider down the road (no pun intended).

You are right! JIC cs sucks balls, unless you pay them extra...thats what a friend of mine had to do to get his FLA2 serviced, under warranty!! In my opinion, although I cant vouch for their customer service since I have never used it, TEIN would be the top-choice for me.
