So everybody is up in arms over the black kids getting in trouble for beating up the white kid. But when the black hooker flat out lies and blames the Duke white guys for **** none of the great black leaders say anything about the lying broad. People are pretty blind to miss the racists nowadays. Sorry my rant of the month.

it looks like the tension has been growing there for a while and the nooses may be the straw that broke the camel's back. i don't know enough about the what's been going on there, but it sounds like ignorance all the way around.

I think the outrage is mostly because these kids were charged with attempted murder instead of a simple assault. Whereas the white kids who hung nooses from the tree were given what can't even be considered a slap on the wrist. I can see why some would be upset. The complaints are not about why these kids are being punished. I think everyone agrees that they should be punished. But letting white kids go free for hate crimes while charging 16-year old black kids for attempted murder as adults for simply punching a white kid? That's screwed up.
No matter how hard I try, I can never forget that the United states of America was built on land stolen from one side of my family, with slave labor from the other side. I do my best to integrate. I have an education and a career. I pay my taxes and try to stay out of trouble, but my best efforts do little to free me from being targeted by ingnorant people, crooked cops, and racial profiling.
There have been great strides made since the days of Martin Luther King, but the Jena 6 case shows that racial issues are still around. I do think they boys need to be punished, because they did assult the white guy, but how ******* stupid is the district attorney for saying that tennis shoes are considered a deadly weapon? his actions are showing that he has an agenda.

I don't. The kids that were sentenced to 15 years were a gang that terrorized the town. The kid that they jumped had nothing to do with the hung nooses. Do I believe that they should have been sentenced so harshly? I have no idea, but it seems like these were not isolated events and they all had criminal histories that played a part.

Also to msuprisin1, the people in central louisiana are glad to welcome each and everyone that comes to our area. Protest is a freedom of speech that i fully support and i applaud your dedication to take time from your busy schedule to pay us a visit. Not to mention you will be helping our economy by staying in our hotels, going to our restaurants, buying gas at our gas stations, and many other expenses! The influx of protesters are welcome for those reasons as well!!
Another aspect of the case that people either forget or just don't take into consideration is that the all white jury occurred because the black people in Jena decided to boycott the jury call. By doing this they only created a situation that harmed the Jena six rather than helping them.

So do I...as long as all of the groups involved get some additional punishments appropriate to their offenses...community service isn't enough for all of them.

What an ingrate.......Take time out of a Busy schedule to come help their economy. That statement is so off base, and ungrateful. Black people today DID NOT MARCH because we don't want Justice done to the Jena 6 kids. If you assault someone then you are Liable for your actions. We Marched because there is some form of social injustice in that area.

There were other incidents that happened in that area which sparked a racial war, and it is a shame that it escalated to this. That's what the blacks are marching for...It's a ****** up situation.

well quite frankly that's the kinda attitude taken by many and a big factor in it not changing.meh...this kind of stuff has been happening for many years. If you think it will ever change you are sadly mistaken.
