Jena 6

Simply put, if 6 people beat the crap out of someone it should be assault, as long as the person's life isn't put on the line. This is the story I heard to begin with. When the stomping, kicking, etc comes into play, especially when the victim is unconscious, I can understand the attempted murder charges. Initially I felt the charges were wrong, but when I heard about the stomping and kicking I changed my tune. No matter what race of anyone involved that's what the charges should have been.

On the other side I can see where people would get upset. If the attackers were white, the victim some other race, it probably would have been assault charges and community service as the punishment. That is where the problem lies. The law is the law and it should be enforced the same way if you're white, black, purple, green, etc. I agree with Killer though, it will NEVER happen.

Probably is the key word here.

There were two white guys that beat some black dude nearly to death back home in FL, and they got attemted murder, plus hate related charges.

Sure rich white people have an advantage, but regular old trailer park trash like me gets the same treatment as some dude in the hood.

big difference. this kid still went to a family function later that day....no where near death.

That's not the point.

They continued to beat him after he was unconscious.

excerpt from the definition of attempted murder from a legal dictionary said:
an intention to kill and/or to cause grievous bodily harm where there is a high probability of death resulting

I mean what usually happens when you inflict blunt force to someone's head?
