Jegs rooftop cargo carrier installed

I’ve seen plenty of posts about Yakima and Thule boxes, but thought I'd share my jegs 18 cu ft foot cargo box install on a 2021 CX-9 GT in case a cheaper alternative is desired.

The more expensive units are certainly better looking, but I just use the thing a couple times a year for extra luggage storage on vacation.

I bought the OEM crossbars and installed, then grabbed the jegs box I bought on Amazon a couple years ago for about $225
https://www.amazon.com/dp/ (commissions earned)

I previously used it on a 2011 Expedition which had shorter spacing between the crossbars so I had to drill another set of holes in the plastic base of the box for the undermount U-brackets that secure it to the crossbars, but no big deal. No issues with hatch clearance or sunroof.

Luggage-wise the box fits the biggest Travelpro 29" suitcase plu the next smaller size Travelpro 25" with room leftover for smaller bags/items on top or around the perimeter.

No report yet for road going wind noise or mileage as I just fit it temporarily to ensure it would work before a later vacation, so it was subsequently removed without driving.

Apologies if this is in the wrong spot, it's my first ever forum post. We just bought the CX-9 last week, been loving it so far and I've appreciated reading about all weather cargo area and floor mats.

I've read that installing the box as far to rear as possible yields the best mileage.

I would guess mounting so that it extends over the windshield could cause aerodynamic problems.
