JDM_Pro5's Build Thread

Dip came in yesterday. Before I can dip wheels, I must roll fenders, then replace rear tires. Had plans to pick up a bumper Saturday, but that went down the drain...maybe this weekend? Paint guy is already set up for the bumper, just need the physical part and then I can send it off. If I like the dip, I plan to powdercoat the wheels and possibly the Valve Cover too. Here is the Vintage Gold with 2 coats of glossifier (for a satin finish)

I plan on adding 2-3 coats of glossifier as well for a satin finish. Here is a quick photoshop of my car for an idea of the finished product

One shipment of parts was messed up and is being resent soon. Another has not been sent out yet. I need to make time to weld the oil return into the pan. Once parts arrive, I'll be set to assemble. Probably going to order a universal piping kit for new FMIC

well...car broke down on the way to VA Saturday. Shut off while driving yet battery any everything we still running. New battery, newer coil packs and plugs. Car wouldn't turn over but starter sounded healthy. I rolled the car into a church parking lot and left it. I finally headed back there last night after scouring a few cities for a crankshaft positioning sensor. Jacked the car up, removed the wheel, replaced the sensor...wouldn't fire....undid everything. read the code...cam sensor....(i'm dumb and didn't read the code before hand *kicks self in ass*)...Took the $80 crank sensor back to learn that no one in the area has a cam sensor. Ordered the $100 cam sensor, comes in today, will change it in under 60 seconds.

As far as the turbo goes. I'm in search of another fmic. The one I have only works with the MSP radiator. I have a lead on 2 Cobalt SS stock fmic's but not sure that's the one I want. I'll probably have to get slim fans too to allow room for piping

Yeah you will definitely need slim fans. Plus the slims will throw more cfm anyways. Have you looked at the ebay intercoolers? There are a few kits that would work perfect with the full size rads. Sucks about the sensor but hey it could've been A LOT worse :/

I haven't priced anything yet. i'm farm more interested in getting this spare bumper painted than installing a turbo. I'm checking CL for local FMIC's because I'd like to pick one up locally. I think JT told me i needed slim fans and I must have forgot, but I'm clueless like that. i haven't priced those. Do they sell individually or as a pair? If I run them as pushers, do I need a shroud?

When I bought mine the were individual but, you'd have to check the description. I didn't run a shroud and I used them as pullers. some pushers, some run pullers. For that it's preference really.

Running pushers gives me 1 more inch of room to play with. If some cars come OEM with pushers, it can't be a terrible design. Found a civic partout selling 1 slim fan for $5, it's a 10" thought. Looks like I want 12"

I went with one 12" and one 10" for my KL swap. Not sure if you can fit two 12" fans on our radiators. Pullers are ideal for air flow but pushers will work too.

the difference with running either or is so little it makes no difference. I had 2 10"s and never over heated.

That is only for 1 fan.

Edit: shoot for a while I just ran 1 10" fan and was totally fine.

Installation is a piece of cake, just need to track down some fans :)

wait...I can't run pushers if I still have A/C >.<

Down here, we ask ourselves "Will it snow this year?" we also ask "Will it hit 100F this year"

I have two children, they complain when things get hot. I have this really cool button I push, it engages an electric-clutched compressor tied in to my pulley system (think of it as a supercharger). This compressor, with the help of Freon and it's own radiator, makes all air entering my cabin slightly "cooler" than the outside temperatures. Yes, the compressor kills some hp, but I believe the gain is worth it.
