JDM_Pro5's Build Thread

I wet sanded both my headlights and the headlights on the Mazda3 today. Mine look a bit better, the 3's headlights looks brand new. I'll post some pics tomorrow from work

Unfortunately, these picture don't do justice. The headlights looked worse in person, and the looked much better.

The P5 lights did clean up some, but it wasn't visible in the pictures :(

Go with Hella Supertones. They are very popular and trusted. probably better quality too. I had the 1st version of the sickspeed horns and had to send them back since they weren't very waterproof. They sent me V2 and it has been working for almost two years now.

Finished my headlights today. Headlights have been wetsanded, buffed, and sealed with wax, projectors installed, cutoff shield wired to stock wiring for fog lights. Fog light switch now activates projector highbeams.

I love these guys

Lot of stuff going on.

Got a call from a good friend and Protege parts dealer who offered me a sweet deal. I may or may not have some very fun part in the works for the P5.

Ordered MSP door sill from Lewis (have been shipped)

Had an accident...

I was driving to Walmart around Midnight for a diaper run. On the highway doing about 70mph when a Semi Truck tire made itself known. The tire was intact, not blown, laying sideways in the center of the left lane. It was sitting in a dip hiding from my headlights, making it impossible to see until it was too late. My car got air born and jumped the tire. I joined a car on the side of the road who had hit it before me and was soon joined by 4 other cars after that. There was no mechanical damage to the car.

The aesthetic damage is as follows: Ripped off front bumper tab on driver's side, lost 1 MSP fog delete, ejected my center grill (I recovered it and thankfully have a backup), separated part of my driver's side headlight and it's lens, dropped part of my rear bumper.

I was able to finish the drive to Walmart to get what I needed. Yesterday, I began the rebuild. I remounted the rear bumper (looks fine), and pulled the whole front end.

With the front end apart, I took the time to do some wire management, remounted my ballasts in a better location, and clean some parts. I JB welded broken parts on my front bumper which is currently in the kitchen completing the 24 hour cure process. I needed to reseal my headlights so I opened them both up, cleaned the lenses, replaced the light-gunmetal headlight shrouds with the Black Chrome shrouds I originally painted, then sealed both headlights with clear RTV silicone. When I get home, I will reassemble headlights and bumper. I need to pop in a center grill and order a new set of MSP fog deletes. If my parts dealer gets me my parts, I may not need a center grill ;P

I've flown a Cesna and that's about it. My friend is in town from Kansas on leave. He's a crew chief on Chinooks

^Everything looks the same now except I'm missing one MSP fog delete. The MSP lip does have some black marks on it, but the lip is black itself
