JDM BP-ze

Sometime ago a buddy of mine purchased a jdm motor to replace his 1.8 bp on his 92 lx protege . The motor purchase was also a 1.8 dohc bp looks identical to the usdm bp-ze or a sideways mounted miata engine from what pictures online i have seen, havent had the chance to take a look at one in person. Now here comes the point of the matter we want to find out more info on this motor such as torque ,hp , aprx. compression the motor should have . We also have a few problems with the motor it doesnt feel like its moving the car how it should. Car revs alot better than with the old motor (it isnt slow getting to 4000 rpms ) . TP sensors is damaged and we are having porblems finding one compatible with my buddies wiring .

so far what we have done to the car has been :
jdm bp engine (will provide engine code as soon as i can )
rx-7 fuel pump
rx-7 airflow meter (havent figured out how to regulate yet, car runs better with stock )
shaved heads (do to head gasket blowing after over heating )
compression checked each piston at 150psi ? (i think there sometin screwy with the engines compression my honda jdm d15 has 200psi at each piston and it is stock )

any suggestions of what can be done to this motor to fix it/run better/ hual ass would be greatly appreciated

if it's a jdm motor, doesn't it need to use higher octane gas?

Well if the TP is broken...how do your injectors know exactly when to shoot fuel? Get everything fixed first. I don't see why a JDM engine would need higher octane, unless it ran some crazy high air/fuel ratio
