Jacking points

Hey guys. I have some parts that have to go on my car this weekend (providing I get them before Friday) and some have to go under the back end. I've been trying to figure out a good way to lift the back end to get it on jack stands in a safe matter. How is everyone getting there asses up?

I thought about jacking from the middle of the torsion beam, but quickly decided against it for fear of bending it or damaging it somehow. I know I could just lift it up at the jacking points on either side, but that is where I want to put the jack stands. So now I'm a little stumped.... I've only ever had to jack old Chevy trucks, but there are tons of jacking points on those things, and the Beemer I had was only on jack stands at the end of its life so I could take off all the important bits and get the husk hauled away for scrap. I didn't care what happened to the body on that thing...

I have the stock car jack, and a 4 ton floor jack, and a 2 ton floor jack at my disposal. Both have flat lifting surfaces. Any help would be cool. I know a bunch of guys on here have I stalled there own lowering kits, so there has to be a good safe way to get the 2 in the air. Thanks.

Torsion beam is the official recommended spot, but I used the tow hook as well and I know others have too.

I place my jack just forward of the spot where the jackstand sits. Not really any other way to explain it other than that, sorry. Once I've lifted my 2 high enough, I place the jackstand and proceed to then do the same to the other side. Make sure the car is in gear (or park) and for good measure, I chock the front wheels with a 4x4 that's about a foot long. Also make sure your on a level surface.

I gotta get another pair of caulk blocks so that I'll have four.

Is the tow hook centred? I thought it was off to the side, but I may be thinking about the front.

I jack my car up with the torsion beam, and then if I need the weight off of the axle (to remove springs or whatever) I put the jack stands on the thick metal pieces in front of where the torsion beam mounts to the car.

I gotta get into that exact spot though. So I guess I'll be jacking the car up by either the torsion beam or the tow point, and then putting my jack stands in the factory jack points.

Thanks guys. I knew I could count on this place for a quick answer.

And apparently my parts are waiting for me at home, so this is gonna happen.

Front whishbone bolt point & side sill points or the other way round depending on what your doing, rear axle beam & side sills again or rear axle pivot points.... depend how much air you want....

I got my car up. Dropped the torsion beam and realized that I cannot put my parts in with the tools I have. So I'll do it at work.

Going slightly off topic.... (rolleyes)

Tow hook for me.. works every time. And Mykflo, when you were tightening the filter, did you have oil on your hands, and or rag, and forgot to wipe it off? Other than that, I can't think of anything. If you left the old rubber filter gasket on, it wouldn't just leave a bit of that oil.. your filter would be gone.
