my dads msp alarm is defective. i know some people have had the same problem- the parking lights stay on after its locked. its getting fixed friday when we get it reflashed :D

how many people have had this issue?

Mine just started doing that yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!

First time i ever had to stick the key in the door!!!

Is this a common problem???

TSB or anything?

Side note: I had never exoerienced this hesitation much. Yesterday the car was extremely poopy to drive. Jerking and bogging all the time. Guess I go it too.

Time to book and appointment

ok here's one for you....i don't know if the car is supposed to do it. when i get in my trunk after a minute or 2 the car locks. only when i have the trunk open. so i hope no one leaves their key in the car.

does anyone know how to make that stop? don't want to take a chance and forget my key and be locked out.

Yeah.......Open and close on of your doors after you unlock the car using your remote. Once the door has been opened and closed again it won't do that.

It's a good feature to have but not when all you want to do is get in your trunk.

yeah, the trunk thing is annoying, but its nice should you accidentally unlock your car and never get in, then forget to relock :)

good point. just glad i found out about it before i left my keys in it. how long did you all have your car before you started having problems witht the alarm? i have about 3000 should i expect it soon?

I had the mystery alarm problem too. Took 3 trips to the dealer before they saw it in order to fix it. I hate knowing what's wrong with the car but then still having to prove it to them all the time.

Dunno why it happens, but I'm on my 3rd unit now with my 4th on it's way from Mazda. I'm trying to save money for a better alarm though.

.. Thank God it isn't just me havin' this problem!

Mine started about a week and a half ago, and it was driving me CRAZY. I couldn't even set my alarm without it starting to randomly go off about a half hour later -- so it turns out that now, I can't set my alarm at ALL. And that's not a good thing when you live in a college town.

I have an appointment this coming Thursday to get a bunch of stuff done on my MSP, though -- flashed, the left side of the rear skirt reattached as it's starting to come off, and now I can tell them what's wrong with the alarm.

Thanks a ton, as always!

Just make sure that you bring both remotes to the dealer when you get the module replaced. (You get new module but not new remotes) I forgot one of mine so have to do an extra one hour trip down there tomorrow morning to get the other remote programmed.
BUT they finally heard my rattling front passenger speaker so I get that replaced tomorrow too!! YIppee!! (only been complaining about that for 6 months)

Teamzero -- you're having problems with your stereo??

I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing difficulties with the Kenwood equipment. Mine was all fine and dandy at first .. but now things seem to be heading downhill.

I'm relatively sure that I've either blown or damaged the Kenwood subwoofer .. I was spoiled by my last car, in which I had two 12" JL W3 subs in a HUGE custom ported box. The base was so loud I couldn't keep my rearview mirror attached to my window. No, I'm not kidding. After I tried regluing it with that apoxy stuff and it STILL fell off, I just gave up.

Anyway, the grid -- y'know, the 'speaker mesh' or whatever it's called -- that goes over the actual subwoofer speaker fell off. And now, whenever I have the radio crunked up to 24 or so on the volume scale -- there is some type of God-awful rattling coming from what seems to be the back panel beneath the rear window.

It's driving me insane. Am I gonna have to rip out that back panel and Dynamat it or what?!

Also, I noticed that you're from the Wilkes-Barre area .. Have you gone anywhere yet to get your MSP flashed? I'm trying to find a dealership an hour or two away that can do it, because the ones around here don't have a clue.

.. But thanks about the tips on the remotes. I would've had to make a second trip, too.

thats funny that you guys talk about how the doors lock (trunk) on its own. I was surfing and when i got out i went to change and set the keys down and closed the trunk. Freeking had to wait for my girlfriend to bring my extra keys to me....which took about 3 hours!
Dont lock yourselves out!

MINE IS MORE THAN POSSESED.. .

My car started doing the whole "lights stay on thing" then as of yesterday I got out of my car and the small lights were on and i had not even sat my alarm, then i could usually make them go off just by getting in my car and starting it.. well i did that and they still didn't go off. so i took the fuse out.. still they didnt go off. so i went to class and got back 5 hours later to a dead battery.. how fun....

I took it last week to get fixed and they had to order the part. well they called yesterday night to tell me that it was in, so i took it over to get fixed and they had ordered the wrong part, so now i have to disconnect my (+) battery cable so my battery does not run down till next week..

Oh yeah my horn stopped working also..

YEAH FOR MAZDA!!!!

GaBerry67MS035,
I bought the car at the Williamsport dealer but have been getting it serviced in Allentown. I really did not know about the ECU flash until you mentioned it and I read up on it. If either of these dealers will do it, I'll let you know.

The Kenwood was actually OK. Dealer took the door panel off and we noticed that the plastic plug and wire on the back of the speaker was bumping into it. This is probably what was causing the speaker rattle sound. Had it repalced anyway and all sounds ok again. KNow what you mean by big bass. Last car had 2 12's in it and although the Kenwood sounds alright for stock, sometimes miss the old days.

Teamzero --

Allentown, eh? Almost back in Philly, where I bought my Mazdaspeed .. I might wind up just going back to Faulkner and getting my Speed flashed there. At least I know those people are compitent.

Just to let everyone know, I'm trying to clue in Rider Auto that's located in State College to the flash and MazdaSpeeds in general. They have a Laser Blue Mica MSP on the showroom floor .. but from what I've seen so far, that's about ALL they've got. I don't think they know much about the MSPs. But I've been emailing and calling to try to get in touch with the Service Manager, to alert him to the flash and whatnot.

.. So for anyone in the Central PA area, I'm tryin' to get us a dealership with a brain, LOL!!

Drove one hour to the dealer and had the alarm replaced last Monday... Drove an hour back to the dealer to have the other remote reprogrammed on Friday... Exactly one week later on this lovely Monday morning, my lights stayed on again as I exited the car in the parking lot at work. Arrrggggg.....

GaBerry67MS035,

Allentown Mazda just called me and they claim that there is a newly released alarm module and the dealership is getting a few of the new mods this week. So early next week, I should be able to get one installed.

Also, since you asked, the service Manager is aware of a new computer flash update. He claims that they will do this for me also when I bring the car in next week.

Peace!

Hmm!

I just don't get it! I get my module replaced w/ a new one this morning. Guess what! I get home from the dealership and arm the alarm, the freaking parking lights stay on AGAIN!. So I called the dealership and they told me to come back tomorrow. *Sigh* It's never ending. For the past 3 weeks w/ my old module I had to pull the fuse from the fuse holder of the module to shut off the lights completely because they came on w/o me arming the alarm :wtf:. So to start my car I put the fuse in, arm/disarm alarm (module is tied in w/ inigtion), start the car, pull the fuse (so the parking lights and horn shut off) and drive around. Then start this process all over again when I have to start the car. This is such :bs:. I'm about ready to rip this alarm out of this car. Sorry to b****! This is just getting old quick for a car that has barely 1500 miles on it.
