Hey everyone,

We kicked this little project off in November, and I'm proud to say the first car is past the debugging stage and we know we have a system that can be dropped in and tuned to go. Base maps are in development and we will continue to grow and build those as time goes. But if you are a more experienced tuner and understand what is involved for tuning startup, idle, and main engine maps, the system is ready for you!

All parts will be included in the package with very detailed and simple installation instructions. All stock sensors are left in their places with the wiring tapped as appropriate. The system takes about 2 hours to install, and is no more complex of an installation than wiring in your stereo.

Anyone that buys a unit will have full support directly with me. I'll do anything I can via the phone and email to support and help you along. Obviously there are limits as I do need to sleep some! :) But in general you will have full access to any help you need from 4:30 -10:30 p.m. M-F CST, and 11:00 a.m. - 8p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

We will do anything we can to support you to the best of our abilities!

So now the dirty details... see the next post!

What you need...

What you need other than the Microtech EMS:

A working car
General tuning knowledge
WIDEBAND O2 sensor (narrowbands will NOT cut it)
Boost Gauge (not necessary for NA but can be of help for reading vac levels).

It is imperative that you have a wideband O2.. If you do not.. I recommend the M-300 from PLX at www.plxdevices.com which runs about 340 shipped and does a GREAT job.

The Microtech EMS will set you back 1230 SHIPPED during our introductory period. If we get 3 or more orders we can group together I will cut the price by 65 or more per unit.

Lead time from the date of order/payment is 4 weeks. We will be improving this over time, but initially that will be out current lead time. Each unit is custom configured for the protege and thus is not an "off the shelf" unit.

The biggest hurdle you will have tuning the vehicle is startup/idle. We are working on providing a diverse set of startup maps to cover all conditions. And in the coming months we will have them readily available. But if you are comfortable trying things and tuning it yourself, you will be ok. There are "tricks" to make it easier as well.

Next post... the specs.... so you know what you get!

True sequential, batch, and staged injector driving
Drive up to 4 injectors per injector signal (high impedance only, maximum 16 total injectors)
Main Fuel Matrix is 16x16, upgradeable to 32x32
Curve fitting interpolation adds to resolution and prevents "stepping"
RPM tuning is ever 500 rpm's with interpolation between rpm's, but can be upgraded to higher resolutions
Master trim capabilities of +-99%
Coolant temp correction
Air temp correction
Accelerator pump amount, sensitivity, and time comensations, including both fuel and timing
Cranking enrichment
after start stabilization enrichment
cold start accelerator pump enrichment
Hard cut RPM Limiter
Soft Cut rpm limiter
Over Boost Protection
configurable for 1-4 cylinder direct fire or 1-8 cylinder wasted spark
16 igntition rpm sites, upgradeable to much higher resolutions if requested
16 MAP timing adjustment sites, upgradeable to higher resolutions
16 water temp correction points
16 air temp correction points
Ignition advance/retard for acclerator pump
Ignition advanc/retard on auxillary trigger
Ignition TDC adjustment
.25 degree timing accuracy
Standard one 12V Auxillary input,
One -ve switched/staged output that can be triggered via RPM, MAP, water temp
PWM output for idle stepper control
Auxillary input configurable for lag adjustment, trim adjustment, and timing trigger.

HANDSET available!!!! NO NEED FOR A LAPTOP!

Laptop recommended, but the handset works too!

Dash units available that function as multi stage tachomter, digital readout, and programmer.

Data Logging, data saving. Data log to memory at 100 samples/second for up to 5 minutes.

Save 4 maps to laptop adapter.
Security PIN lockout to disable vehicle..

many more "little" features too...

nice, pics of the handset??

Attached is the handset and the dash unit pictures... The handset would be included in the cost of the unit... you just wouldn't get the laptop software and adapter included. If you want both it'd be a bit extra.

The dash unit would be quoted seperately.. but is relatively price (somewhere in the 300ish range by itself. )

This is no joke! Steve has done so much to help Keola and myself out. He will go out of his way to do what he can. Even staying up to midnight (his time) talking us through problems even though he has to go to work the next morning. So believe me that if you buy the Microtech you will have technical support to the fullest! Hopefully I can get my tuning skill up there too and I could also help anyone out that would need it.

Dave

Damn its cheaper then I thought. I might be interested need to talk to a local shop and see if they can tune this for me.

honestly man... if i were you i would just fiddle with the unit when you get it and tune it yourself instead of over paying someone to do it for you... i have had no experience with tuning a vehicle or ANYTHING like this before and we got this thing down already. the car runs great and it honestly only took about an hour to get up to running good. you will have a lot of support through steve (NSN), dave (PRO 5) and myself if youd like... i can tell you that steve has been there anytime i needed him and has called me numerous (SOMETIME TOO MUCH! HAHAHA JUST KIDDING (cryhard) ) times to keep me going and make sure everything is alright.

it truely tunes in real time. last night when me and dave were tuning i was driving at a certain rpm and just let dave know if it was too rich or lean, he would go to that rpm/vacuum setting and change the fuel ammount and youd see the a/f on the wideband move... its unreal... ive never dealt with anything like this before and it just blows my mind how it works and what it does and will do for my car...

you wont be disappointed with this unit. i just cant wait till i see boost... if i ever do(shrug)

WOw Good to know. Something to consider if i decide to go crazy.

I have heard that Microtech makes the stock tach inoperable, or disables it?

Any truth to the fact?

Also, a couple months ago cullen was saying that you were trying to make it PnP to the harness, has that goal been achived, or is it still a slice and dice operation?

NSN has gotten the Microtech to work perfectly fine with the Stock tach..which was one of the bigger hurdles that they had to tackle if Im not mistaken. As of now the install is a "slice and dice operation", but can easily be installed with minimal knowledge. Can you install a radio?

The original Microtech's that Spool Innovative Turbo Systems contracted in did not work with the tach or alternator.. we solved that issue..

Also, there is no point in the added cost of making this system PNP. It is so simple that Keola, who has never wired anything like this, nor used a soldering iron... did the whole thing with some help from dave in about an hour and a half... so it's simple!

how much does the handset cost?

If you want that instead of the laptop setup... it'll run you an extra 20 bucks for the total system cost.

If you want it in addition to the laptop setup it will run you an extra 165.

If you want the dash unit instead of the handset or the laptop setup it would bump the system cost by roughly 200 dollars. If you want it individually it would run you an extra 390. It's not a cheap add on unfortunately. But quite impressive piece of equipment.

The Microtech can be programmed 3 different ways:

From a laptop

From a handset

From a dash unit

ah so that handset add on is only 20 bucks?? not bad..i might be interested in buying one from you but the 4 week wait im not so sure...i'll let you know...

maybe a stupid question: can the microtech be tuned the same way using the dash unit instead of a laptop? What i mean is, do you lose anything by going with just the dash unit?
